Nai Adventure: "That's it, folks! Metal Canary is getting released today for Dreamcast!!!🚀🎮"
We've officially entered the NAOMI-to-Dreamcast fan port era. Cleopatra Fortune Plus has been "vibe coded" onto Dreamcast, a feat many thought impossible due to the NAOMI's hardware differences. This is a big breakthrough, but with a lot to unpack. While we can't ignore the fact that this port's very existence is a huge breakthrough, we can only hope those who live and breathe Dreamcast development can unpick some of the information CaptainKoffski provided in their accompanying GitHub repo to find out how ...
Back in January 2023, Slinga released multiplayer mayhem onto Saturn in the form of Disasteroids, a 12-player Asteroids clone submitted to the 28th Anniversary Game Competition. One of many in a series of 12-player games that seek to take full advantage of two six-player SEGA multi-taps, Disasteroids was already a ton of fun and practically an instant homebrew classic upon release.Fast forward just three years, and community member, Farkus aka likeagfeld, with help from multiple SegaXtreme community members and Claude AI, has gone and put the whole thing online. Not only that, but it’s also got support for simultaneous local and online multiplayer, so you can go head-to-head with the ...

The Galaxian arcade game was released by Namco in 1979. It was a fixed shoot 'em up that iterated on the Space Invaders idea by adding enemies that charged at you with vivid animation. The charging enemies are worth considerably more points, making for a fun risk-reward mechanic. This port was made using static translation, meaning the original arcade game logic is running unchanged under the hood, translated from the original Z80 processor to run on the MC68000 of the Mega Drive/Genesis.

The Goomba's have had enough of being stomped on, this time they are Invading and nothing will stop them. You play as the BROS, your mission is to blast these Invaders back to where ever they came from, luckily you have an unlimited amount of ammo. There are 8 levels to play through, you get extra points for shooting a mother ship, which is a Koopa!Good Luck Bros and happy blasting.
Thulf Ham: "The team is currently focused on an important testing phase. We're continuously playing, reviewing, and refining different aspects of the game to improve stability, gameplay balance, and the overall player experience. Every round of testing helps us identify new improvements and brings us one step closer to delivering the quality experience we promised. On the production side, we’ve made solid progress with sourcing and securing the necessary hardware and materials. We are currently finalizing ..."
JKM Corp: "This one I took inspiration from Robocop as I remembered from the late 80s arcade play.Maybe also from Green Beret and Vigilante first level.Hit the driver before he goes back inside the van!"
JKM Corp: "A few months ago, we resumed active work on the CopperStorm engine, and we've now reached the milestone we wanted to show you rather than describe: the game running on Megadrive, SNES and Neo Geo. This footage is the proof that the SNES and Neo Geo versions are not promises on paper but code running on the machines. Here is how it works under the hood. Rather than developing three separate games, we built our own cross-platform technology: the entire game logic, player, enemies, weapons and levels lives in a single shared core, written in portable C with no dependency on any console SDK. Each console then gets its own thin native layer that ..."
Ross Kilgariff: "I've decided to move on from my current job to work on HarleQuest! full-time and give the game the attention it deserves. This is a decision I have been turning over for a while and I believe that it's the right move. There is one caveat though: I won't be able to make this change until February next year. My current job is in a similar situation in that it needs my undistracted focus to get a game project over the line and to follow that up with decent support. Rather than trying to juggle both projects, my approach now is to focus on one completely and then the other.I know that this decision means more delays and that some backers will have little faith in the project actually shipping because of the time that has passed and the turbulence so far, but I am still deeply committed to finishing HarleQuest! and this is the only way forward I can see that makes sense.I feel both relieved and excited at the prospect of giving my full effort and making a game that has ..."
