Both where in a pack for $20 dollars. 10 dollars each. First season was 6 eps, second was like 16 eps. Still a great deal.

A winning combination!  :afroman:

George: Tales from the Crypt rules.

I just picked up:

for $6.25. I already had 2&3, but 2 is "meh" and 3 was too complicated with the tag-team moves and hub worlds.

I won Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future for Dreamcast off of eBay. Brings the Dreamcast collection up to 72 games I think.

I also spent about 60 bucks on a new hard drive.  A friend of mine had her hard drive die, and she used it as an excuse to get a new laptop. She gave me the old computer (much newer than what I had) for free. All I had to do was pick up a new hard drive.  When another friend of mine found out about this, he gave me his old video card (again, much newer than I had).  So I've gone from a computer capable of playing Warcraft II, to a computer capable of playing Left 4 Dead 2 for the tune of 60 bucks.

With all this newfound computing power, what do I do?
I downloaded Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II.
Then picked up Plants vs. Zombies and the first Splinter Cell, because I've never played a Splinter Cell game before.

Left 4 Dead 2, played a game with 2 friends last night and I'm still not sure about it, my Friend Sam kept disconnecting and I could hardly hear him on my headset.
I think if we sit down and give it another go when his broadband is working properly we could have quite a bit of fun with it.

Nice! My Dreamcast collection is currently sitting at 83, plus a little over a dozen demos, a few browser discs and a few duplicates. I probably have a little over 100 when you add those.

I keep saying that I'm done, but then I figure that (insert game name here) looks pretty interesting. Might as well check it out.
I've tried to go with quality over quantity, but there's a lot of quality on the Dreamcast.

One boring day I actually added up the metacritic score of every Dreamcast game I owned at the time (around 70 of 'em) and found the average score of my collection. I was surprised that I got a 8/10. A testament to the quality of the Dreamcast's library.

I bought a few shitty titles since then for a laugh, so that average may have slid.

Ohhh PC game reccomendations?

First of all, nice move with Splinter Cell, I love that series. Not sure how they play on PC but I imagine it's quite good.

As for games if you really NEED to play:
* Deus Ex: Up there with Shenmue as one of the single most amazing games I've ever played.
* Half-Life: Probably the best FPS ever made.
* Age of Empires II + Conquerers Expansion: My favourite RTS of all time (your old computer could probably play this too though)
* Total War: Any of the games are amazing
*Grim Fandango: All time favourite Adventure game.

You've probably played a lot of these, or some worked on your old PC, but if not I think you would like them.

Also, if you want free stuff:
Grand Theft Auto 1 & 2:

Command and Conquer: Tiberian Dawn
Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun
Command and Conquer: Red Alert

Thanks for all the reccomendations.
Speaking as a console gamer, with  a pretty limited experience when it comes to PC games, Splinter Cell is pretty obviously designed to be played with a controller.  It's a pretty slow paced game so far, so it hasn't been a huge issue, but I'm thinking that I'll invest in one of those 360 controllers for the PC.

I've already picked up the first Half Life, but haven't put too much time into it yet.  I'll have to check out Deus Ex.

The PC games I've already got kicking around prior to this were GTA, GTA2, GTA: London, GTA3, Driver, and Warcraft II: Battle.net Edition.

I played a little bit of Tiberian Sun back in the day, so I might check out those, and the Total War games too. Which Total War game would you reccomend the most?

I really want to play Grim Fandango, but it's not on Steam.  Know any legal way to get ahold of it?

Yeah I've only ever played Splinter Cell on Xbox/360 and I couldn't imagine it without analogue sticks for creeping/movement. Then again I had a friend who had it on PC and said using the mouse-wheel to creep/open doors etc was okay, but I would still try to get a wired 360 pad which you can then use on PC.

I think you'll really like Half-Life when you get a chance to get into it. Try to set aside some time to sink your teeth into it, it's really a great game. The expansion/spin-off of Half-Life: Opposing Force is really good too if you like the first one and want more of the same when you're done!

For Total War games, they are all really good. It's sometimes hard to go back to an older one since you might miss some new features, but if you're just starting out then I think you might as well choose whichever era you are interested most in. I haven't played Shogun or Medieval 1 yet, but from the newer releases (That will definitely work on your PC) you can go with Rome Total War, Medieval 2 Total War and Empires Total War.
Come to think of it, Rome or Medieval 2 might be best, since they are a bit easier to learn than Empires IMO. So if you like Legions and Phalanxes go with Rome, if you like Knights and Longbows, go with Medieval  :afroman:

Finally, for Grim Fandango, I know that LucasArts recently did a re-release of many of their games optimised for new computers. They come on DVD and can be run without installations I believe.
Here this is the version I meant:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/GRIM-FANDANGO-PC ... 255a4bbdd7

Althoug thats quite expensive, I only paid $10 Australian for the same copy a few years back. Check out your local shops, they might have a copy, if not take a look on eBay/Amazon etc for some more reasonable priced copies. It's well worth tracking down though, it's a really fantastic game, and only on PC.

Thanks. I'll probably check out the Medieval one first then.

The only 360 pad for PC that I've found in town so far is the wireless one (comes with a little usb receiver), and it's way over priced at 90 bucks.  So it's looking like amazon for the wired one.

I'll keep an eye out for Grim Fandango on ebay I guess. Do you know if there is any region protection on PC games at all?

You can get wired 360 pads from China/Hong Kong on eBay for about $30 AU. I used those to make my arcade sticks and they work perfectly fine, they are very very good knock-offs.

I'm pretty sure PC doesn't have region protection, so you should be fine getting a game from overseas.

Finally, and I can't believe I forgot this one, you should try Mafia if you get a chance, especialyl before the sequel comes out later this year. It's another of my favourite games.

I'll have to keep an eye out for it.
I ordered a wired xbox controller off amazon for 40 bucks. Should be here in a week or so.
I found  a copy of Grim Fandango too. Haven't ordered it yet though.
I'm thinking next paycheck.
