My console death list:
Aside from the 360 just RRODing on me, I've had my older model PS2 die thanks to a f'd up video out. Basically the system boots up normally half the time, the other half the video and audio is all distorted and broken.
My old XBOX still works, however the disc tray sticks. I have to hold the open button when powering up, otherwise the thing won't open up when the system is on.
My SEGA CD is functional, but isn't great. Half the time I boot up the Genesis, the SEGA CD isn't detected. When the SEGA CD does work, the game will sometimes crash, though I've only had this happen very occasionally with Sonic CD and Silpheed.
The Dreamcast and Saturn have been my most resilient consoles. My first Dreamcast died, but it was in a power surge, so it is hardly a system fault. Just my own for playing PSO during a storm without a surge protector. Since then, I've had two perfectly working Dreamcasts and two perfectly working Saturns. All hail SEGA!
@Sanus: I say go for it. Kinect titles don't take up a lot of my time right now, but once Gunstringer, Child of Eden and Rise of Nightmares hit, I'll be using it much more. Dance Central and Your Shape are probably the most solid titles out right now, both control near perfectly and their use of the Kinect is really slick. Kinect Sports is also solid, but if you've had your fill of Wii sports titles, I'd say pass.
I noticed that I actually use the voice control a lot. Since we don't have cable, we use Netflix and Hulu most of the time. "kinect, play" and "kinect, pause" are great for when I'm running for the bathroom or am heading to the kitchen. I've found that I can even control the thing from other rooms with my voice. Fun stuff. At first it was a novelty, but now it's second nature to use the voice controls. The Mass Effect 3 stuff looked very cool, I'd prefer that to button pressing. If you go for it, might as well get Sonic Free Riders for a good price. It's not perfect, it's not amazing, but it is fun. Reminds me of a game you'd find in an arcade that is so crazy looking, you can't help but play it. It also beats the other titles in the series, in my oh-pin-yun.
