The PSO2 anime gave me the impression that PSO2 conventions are a regular thing in japan which is something I find it hard to believe because I don't find PSO2 that good to make a huge convention out of.
I mean BlizzCon covers not just Warcraft but all Blizzard franchises so that makes sense. Annual conventions for PSO2 not so much for me.
While PSO2 Global is only 2 years old in the west, it's already 10 years in Japan.
In 2012, PSO2 was a very big thing in Japan.
Also adding a fact that everybody there could play the game almost anywhere (PC, mobile, PS4, PS5, PS Vita, Switch).
And many collaboration with popular anime and events in Japan.
It's popularity difference between JP and western is too big.
