Well, basically right SuperSonicEX. They did sponsor the first few DC titles at E3 with giveaways and stuff, but those where the bad ports and I think they did well so SEGA put more effort then most people felt sour... then they cut funding for promotions it seemed.

The issue here is that SEGA West should have planned content leading up to the digital releases instead of "ITS OUT HERE IS A LAUNCH TRAILER THANKS GO BUY IT"

You know, like getting the developers and holding a social media question round table where they get to ask them their questions that are filtered through PR (cuz SEGA, i mean we know everyone wants a 3). Having live events where they answer questions, play the game would have attracted a new crowd. But no. It feels like in the old days SEGA really tried to reach their consumers and show them what else they had, now it seems that SEGA shuns their uniqueness.

For example in the late 80's SEGA launched their own magazine for free, to SEGA console owners. They spent cash on printing and distributing these magazines with articles of the company, people that work there, up coming games, walk thrus. What was the main purpose? Showing you games that you will not hear about otherwise due to not having a TV marketing budget. Think about it, not every game had a marketing budget so they spent money to reach out to fans about new games. Works.

SEGA now has a social media account with over a million users, much more than SEGA Visions magazine had. Yet they can't even do content to hype their own users? Tembo the Badass Elephant isn't worth a few tweets? We are talking about the bare minimum effort here. I felt like doing an article on how SEGA killed the title, basically.
It feels like i'm being ignored here...

But anyways, it seems that SoA has a huge bias for Sonic, because Sonic ALWAYS get the most amount of marketing when compared to everything else that's published by SoA (and personally i feel that Aaron Webber should've become SoA's head of PR instead of returning to his old job as Sonic's PR guy, because that guy's a PR god)

Spec Ops : The Line for example, that game has a great storyline and got a billion GOTYs but it bombed because it was an average cover

GOTY ? It was a average 3rd person shooter that done nothing to separate it for the rest at all . That wasn't the case for BD.

SEGA of America also does a great job ignoring SEGA Europe titles as well

Did Sega Europe or SOJ push the game any better ? Its not like SEGA Europe done a great job with the likes of BD either. Also lets remember under Sammy SEGA America seen massive job losses cuts and slashes to their budget

Sega of America always had communication issues with Sega Of Japan even back in the Saturn days

That's just lies and spin for the most part. You know it happens too, SONY America CEO left over SONY Japan not wanting to cut the price of the PS .

Panzer Dragoon Zwei is
One of the best 3D shooting games available

Spec Ops : The Line's gameplay was deliberately average so that it can disguise itself as a Modern Military Shooter for the story's sake.

We're really gonna bring in Spec Ops: The Line? Please. That game was groundbreaking for maybe three months, and then every game started replicating what it did. And yes, it was a painfully average cover shooter than only got GOTY's because reviewers wanted to jerk off their "artistic prowess."

Seriously, any game that makes the player feel bad about playing it is a shit game to me.

On topic, everyone's hit it pretty much right on the head. If it's not high-profile like Sonic or a liscenced property, then it gets barely any promotion in the west. And that, I feel, is SEGA West's biggest problem right now. Their games can't find an audience because the audience doesn't know the games exist. You can't just throw a game out and expect people to eat it up, that's just idiotic.

You know, I kinda hope that the rumor about how the 2016 Sonic game would be a SEGA-wide crossover be true, just so that all of the other non-Sonic SEGA games gets the exposure they MASSIVELY need to the gigantic Sonic fanbase while also getting the Sonic fanbase to start playing something else instead of being stuck in their Nintendo-Soni bubble.

There was a rumour about that? I thought the only rumour we had is the movie and game tie in to each other.

There are plenty of the reasons why Binary Domain was a dud, Sega's standard complete lack of marketing being the main one, but the biggest reason of such is really the simplest one. It wasn't that good of a game. Gameplay wise, it was a cardboard bland third person cover shooter that took no risks and merely ripped off the standard gameplay you'd expect from TPS at the time. And with a focus on character relationships through simplistic dialogue options, coupled with a Sci fi setting that takes itself seriously enough to the point of laying down a pretty detailed background, despite a pretty lame art direction. Not exactly something that's going to sync with the casual shooting fan. Considering how Yakuza Dead Souls turned out, it's pretty easy to see that Yakuza's team expertise is arcade-ish brawling gameplay, not shooters.

Which is a shame because I actually think it has plenty of potential to become a *REALLY* good game. If they compared Binary Domain shooting gameplay and compared them side by side to Yakuza's fluid, fast paced combat, they would easily see how stifled, slow and bland Binary Domain controls. They should play the TPS in the market that are hauled in the community for their gameplay like the Max Payne series, Vanquish, MDK, Red Dead Redemption, Stranglehold or even Resident Evil 4,5 and 6. Hell, Dynamite Cop or Space Harrier would be great references.

If they combined responsive, more fast pace and arcade like gameplay to the already immensely satisfying feeling of turning a robot into a piece of scrap metal, it would be a fucking great game. As it stands, the palpable physicality of a mechanical target being shot is the best part of the game. Which is why the bosses tend to be pretty great too, when they're not filled with gimmick sections that have nothing to do with actual shooting. And the characters weren't half as boring as they looked, the conversations are pretty entertaining and the relationships that build up really make you feel for these guys, especially when they can barely stand each other in the beginning. Cain is the best character in the game, by the way. Fight me if you disagree.

Now, I love Spec Ops: The Line for what it is and what it does but that's the most half assed, convenient bullshit excuse for standard, below average gameplay. If the developers (Who never developed a TPS before, by the way) really wanted to disguise the game as a generic FUCK YEAH AMERICA military shooter, they wouldn't have tried to implement ideas that were there to try and distinguish itself from others in the market, like the sand system, which they focused a lot while advertising the game.

Now, I liked how Spec Ops actually integrated interactive aspects of a game into the story and how it ties into the big twist and turns the whole story around its head and finishes deconstructing the big bad ass American hero, like the moral choices (which are ultimately just there to fuck with you) but if they REALLY wanted to connect the shooting gameplay with the idea that you're actually performing the horrible act of shooting/murdering people and that you should take conscious of that and feel bad about it...they should have made the act of killing people satisfying to begin with. But shooting guys was fucking barebone, man.

Still, I'd say that both games are pretty decent in their own right. Although TPS is the last genre that should have games that end up being tolerable because of story.
