I would have preferred it being an adventure game probably, but you do not know all of the mechanics of the game. You do not just level up your characters, you upgrade your weapons, rings, skills, vehicles... There are tons of stuff that you do not know about the game. I would say half of the time of playing the game I was in the menus tweaking the characters and stuff. I can understand this is not for everyone, but saying it goes against the whole concept of the genre is a bit weird.
I mean, do you think the Spirit system in Skies of Arcadia goes against the fundamentals of the genre? I mean, you can do an infinite amount of special attacks without losing anything outside of battle, heal everyone or regain all of your MP back, stuff like that. Wasn't the whole point of using special abilities in RPGs was to save them until you needed them most and not be able to use them constantly in every battle?
