Did Virtua Fighter's World Stage mode still had story, though?

Not the kind of story we want, though. It's just a journey around the globe where we compete in various virtual arcades and official tournament brackets, but hey, it's still a story. For me, just like with SSBU World of Light, they're both boring and makes me want just to go straight to the fight in arcade mode.
Compared to Street Fighter VI Story mode, now that's something that somehow I could enjoy, I don't know why.

Of course this is my personal opinion because I grew up in arcade environment though, where it's all about gameplay. People who grew up in console or PC environment would feel different.

Well, still goes to show a story for a fighting game can make it more fun and engaging to play.

If Sakura made it into the game... then maybe her beloverd Segata Sanshiro is also in the game?

Capcom's actually listened to fans' feedback.
The prequel, Street Fighter V initially launched in 2016, without a traditional Arcade Mode or story mode and forced players to rely primarily on online multiplayer.
It was widely criticized for that.
Full Cinematic Story mode ("A Shadow Falls") was then added months later, followed by Arcade Mode two years later for Street Fighter V.
When Street Fighter 6's released, the game has almost what all players want (both old fans and new fans) and the reception to Street Fighter 6 has been overwhelmingly positive due to its massive leaps in accessibility and features.

I'm thinking he could even be the final boss.

It furhter prooves my point that this is why Virtua Fighter was never on other leading fighting games levels, 'cus they never had a story!
I'm thinking he could even be the final boss.
Will the game also have a story mode?
