Jean "Moebius" Giraud has passed away
« on: February 21, 2015, 10:48:52 am »
R.I.P. to Jean Giraud, also known as Moebius, the great French cartoonist whose influence has been felt all over the world in comics, film, and of course video games. Moebius contributed illustrations to the original Panzer Dragoon.

I first encountered some of his work in the mid-80s in Heavy Metal magazine, a fantasy and sci-fi magazine that featured many European cartoonists whose work was otherwise difficult, if not impossible, to find in the U.S. Even today it's maddeningly difficult to find English translations and printings of some of Moebius's most famous works in the States. And when you can find them, you might have to shell out some serious cash, as they have usually been released in very limited print runs. It just ain't right.

It's hard to cover everything he's done, but this article is a decent place to start exploring some links:

Yeah, I was confused by this topic.

Mademan, Aki and me where just talking about him on skype the other day. Wouldn't it be cool to have a sci-fi game based on his awesome designs instead of ugly Halo/Gears of war generic crap?

Still tho:

Sharky even did a post:

After Sharky made that topic, I went out of my way to buy the JPN version of Panzer Dragoon for Saturn so I could get his gorgeous cover art.
