At least had 1 level that filled with grasses, there will be many green colors to compensate the brown outfits and weapons.

Yeah. Even Conan's movie which was mostly desert and canyon scenes, still had pretty lighting, blue skies and made it look natural given this was before filters. It's why I go on about if Golden Axe ever had a movie adaption it be based on this old movie.
Yes, i remember she also showed up in adult men magazine.
And there is always cosplay of her in game convention that promote the game.
I suppose sex sells more if it's done by a woman than a man, or a dwarf.
Indeed. They are already given iconic colors in the original game, how could they ignore them later on.
Probably regarded it as childish. Like how Power Rangers are conveniantly colour coded. To be honest I'd forget who's who if they weren't.

D'aww. Though she probably wouldn't want to date someone who murdered her parents and ruined her kingdom.

This is so cool, how I roughly imagine how a cinematic adaption of the three can look while keeping their colours.

Agree to that.

How time has changed.
Back then female protagonist in video game considered hard to sell to gamers.
SEGA even changed the protagonist Proncess Kurumi (Ninja Princess) into Hayate in SEGA Master System port.
And when Golden Axe port for Master System had memory limitation where the game had to only use one character as protagonist, they chose Ax Battler instead of Tyris and Gilius.

Childsh but helpful indeed.

"But Tyris... I'm your ...."

Yeah, it's like back then they figured it wouldn't sell because they regarded women weak, now they regard they will sell because they are regarded sexy. Not because these women could kick our asses.

And iconic.

Death=Adder isn't Tyris father... is he? I thought Tyris parents were king and queen that originally kept the Golden Axe. Death=Adder murdered them for the axe.

Such lazy bones.

Then it's not progress after all.
Not that I'm against sexy characters.
The challenge is not to against it after all,
but to give more presence of strong and non-sexualized woman in video games to the point where they are as common as men.
And I think SEGA is already good on that.

Yeah, he isn't.
It's just a twist that I had in mind.
What if Tyris was adopted?
We never know much about Death Adder anyway..
How is his past?
What drives him to conquer the world?
What face he had under that helmet?

Ooh... Never mind about the last question...

Yeah I'm not faulting Sega over it in particular, just how the change of things went. Commercialism doesn't follow what is moral, it follows what sells.

From what I understand, Gilius manage to rescue Tyris when she was a baby and gave her to the Amazons (or in Beast Riders case, the Axirian Priestesses). When she was a full grown warrior woman, Death=Adder started his campaign to conquer Yuria.

Yes, and many didn't know that the baby/kid Tyris survived, including Death Adder.
I remember feeling shocked when playing Golden Axe Warrior, being informed that Tyris was already dead.
(Spoiler : turned out, she's still alive, we then met her later in the game)

Golden Axe Warrior really needs a remake. Or the very least I could apply the story to my GoldEdge game idea given it's similar concepts.

You meant a remake was like this?

Maybe, though when I imagine a Golden Axe remake, especially as a spin-off, I imagine it more like Brütal Legend.

Or Breath of the Wild

Or at least similar to the older Zelda games in game play.

And of course with the fantasy bronze-age aesthetic.

And what's a game with barbarians without barbarian violence?

I meant for Golden Axe Warrior.
The game is really different from Golden Axe trilogy,
so if some kind of remake exist,
I kinda want it to be different with mainline remake.

I meant for Golden Axe Warrior.
The game is really different from Golden Axe trilogy,

In my head, I imagine a new formula on how to reintroduce the Golden Axe series to a modern audience.

My first idea was to reintroduce the trilogy in full-3D with Musou-style gameplay. I figured it's because the original games were hack 'n slash beat 'em ups and that a Musou-style gameplay would compliment that. But I recall you saying that there are tons of Musou-style games on the market and I guess I've been under a rock for not really noticing them.
The second idea was Arkham-style gameplay where the player can take on groups of enemies by dispatching individuals quickly, oftem with micro-QTE during the fight. That may work but recall Beast Riders doing something similar.
The games would be semi-linear similar to pre-BotW Zelda games where exploration is still encouraged but still a linear route to travel. Or the very least semi-open like Arkham Asylum and Arkham City was...  I mean those Arkham games were technically open-world but still set n a rather inclined space.

The story would be the same in the games, though I may expand on it to how the trio met and introduce Golden Axe III characters later on as allies or something like that.

At least if I worked with Sega, or was one of the third-party developers they've allowed to remake their games (Such as MegaPixel or Dotemu), that how I would introduce Golden Axe to today's audience.

Then there is my "GoldEdge" game idea which would be a spin-off sequel and re-adaption of Golden Axe Warrior. The gameplay in mind would be open-world, such as Brütal Legend or Elden Ring. It would take the enclosed areas in the main series and expand upon them in this revised open-world.
It could still roughly tell the same story as Golden Axe Warrior but I would want to replace those nine crystals with nine "Gold Edge weapons". You know how in post-classic Zelda games when you enter a dungeon you would find a weapon or a tool needed for progression and when you defeat the boss you get a mcguffin needed for the story? Gold Edge weapons are both of those.

At least that's how I would resurrect the Golden axe series.
