Still, would you be willing to spend nearly a hundred on a brand-new game? Even if it was AAA?

Depended.
If it's a franchise that I love so much that hasn't got a game in a long long long time.
Let's say Phantasy Star 5, Space Harrier 3, or Rhythm Thief 2 then yeah, take all of my money.

I'd rather buy one game from a franchise that I love than 10 games that I just wanna try to play.
Of course if it's Sonic, Yakuza, or Street Fighter ... Priced at a nearly hundred ... Nah, I'd wait for a sale.

I liked the commercial, though a bit weird Sonic and Tails were silent.

Even if those games don't turn out good?

Good is relative.
So many games that critics and most people hate it but I like it.
Balan Wonderworld for example.
I like the music and worlds atmosphere.
Sometimes I turned on the games just to listen the music and let my character wandered anywhere.

I don't know how the game's turning out good or not before I tried it myself since my 'good' could be different than others' good.
So if it's a franchise that I love so much, I'm willing to give it a try than just relying on critics.

Yeah, especially since they're modern Sonic and Tails, not the classic ones.

SEGA Asks Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Players What Crossover DLC Characters They Want

Quote
Takashi Iizuka discussed the future of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds DLCs. "We have one year of DLC," he said, adding that "We could do year two, we could do year three of DLC." Iizuka then urged fans to share what they want to see next, noting that since CrossWorlds is an online game, the team has plenty of room to expand its content. Several Reddit threads are already filled with discussions about character wishlists, and Iizuka's comment will likely reignite those conversations and encourage even more ...

Well, yeah. But if a game is panned by critics and consumers then it may make or break a franchise. For example even if you like Balan Wonderland, it's poor sales and reputation means we'll never get a sequel.
Yeah, especially since they're modern Sonic and Tails, not the classic ones.
I guess they couldn't get Roger or Coleen.
