Can't help it since it's an anime that's released two decades ago with limited budget.
I believe there were likely other anime movies released around 2007 that did more with less budget Love & Berry had... which Google tells me was ¥500mil (or so Google AI told me that's what the film's budget was.)

But I'm pretty much MushiKing: Super Battle Movie was also released that year on that month, and it seems to have better CGI than Love & Berry had.

I see. Still it's easier to do CGI with bugs/animals/monsters than a human especially when it came to perceptual accuracy and emotional depth.
Also our brains are highly attuned to spotting subtle flaws in human anatomy and expression.

MushiKing: Super Battle Movie still had human-like characters (Popo and that dark wizard guy) that looked well animated.
