According to DreamcastLive, Shenmue Passport's online rankings are finally back online for the first time in almost 24 years, meaning we can finally find out who the best forklift driver in the world is
In case you don't remember, back when Sega's groundbreaking open-world action-adventure game Shenmue was first released in the late 90s and early 2000s, it shipped with a bonus disc labelled Shenmue Passport. This featured a wealth of additional content and online features designed to improve the player experience, from character biographies for various background characters and location profiles to helpful messages from Ryo's childhood friend Nozomi, to online leaderboards, and reviews showing you how much progress you have currently made based on your saved data.

2020, Retro-Bit teased this.
2023, Retro-bit released the Sega Saturn Wireless Pro Controller.
2025, Retro-Bit updated their site. The Collaboration page teasing a "Coming Soon". To this day, hasn't changed.
2026, You posted about the LightConn, through it, I found out about DreamMods and the DreamConn S.

I'm starting to feel impatient over Retro-Bit, especially given they have not given dates to wait for. I am tempted to get a DreamConn S, but at the same time, I don't know if Retro-Bit will offer the better product.

I mean, it has happened before. When Sonic Mania was announced, I wanted to "honour it" by playing it with a Mega Drive controller for PC. I figured, "Surely Sega would've released official USBs of their controllers", so I Googled and the closest I can find was the PlaySega controller, so I got a second-hand one off eBay and used it to play Sonic Mania with.

Half a year later, not only did I find out about Retro-Bit but also learned they were working on the Sega Saturn Pro Controller that would be released later.

I felt that if I knew of Retro-Bit at the time, I would not have got the PlaySega controller. I would've gotten either one of their Mega Drive Arcade Pads and/or patiently waited for the Saturn Pro-Controller to be released.

I simply don't want to "spend in haste" when better opportunities are around the corner. I learned patience over the PlaySega thing, but my patience is wearing thin given Retro-Bit has not provided any dates yet, let alone any news if there even will be a Dreamcast Pro Controller. I'm tempted to just get it over with and get a DreamConn S, but I feel that be "spending in haste".

I'm not that patient to wait for something that doesn't have an exact release date.
For me, if I could afford something that's already available right now, I'll go for it.
May be later I'll regret it when a better choice then came up but that regret didn't last long anyway so it wouldn't ruin my enjoyment.
Of course everyone is different so I can't say what's best for you.

Come to think of it, I remember when I got a Wii U and not long after the Switch was announced. So yeah, I don't want to buy when something possibly better comes out.

I dunno. Maybe wait until the end of June for at least fresh news from Retro-Bit regarding Dreamcast controllers. Though I would be kicking myself hard if nothing by June, by a DreamConn S and Retro-Bit decides to drop out the Dreamcast controllers a month or week after.

I played games most in my handhelds so thankfully I have no interest in Wii U since aside from its gamepad, it's not too different from Wii.
I was interested in WiiU when Sonic: Lost World was announced but thankfully 3DS version was as good (with more brutal difficulty though) so I was already satisfied.
Switch was also a handheld so it's decided already but I'm still not interested in Switch 2 since aside from its power, it's not too different from Switch.

That's how life is. Nothing's certain.

I gave up console gaming and stuck with PC gaming. Mostly because I rarely play games anymore and that consoles take up what little bedroom space I have.

It isn't. But is asking for at least an ETA too much?

If there's a thing that's outside of their control ... probably yeah, still too much.
I have pre-ordered a game from SLG and they couldn't give the exact date when the game's will be ready or shipped.
They only said that after the pre-orders reached 1,000 numbers that the producton will begin and right now it hasn't reach that number yet.
For hardware it's more complicated, some parts could only be processed in certain numbers minimum and the hardware usually contains many parts that each has different numbers minimum.

How is it outside their control if they plan the release date?

They're not a big company.
They can't start producing unless certain numbers being met ... and that numbers are depended by the amount of people pre-ordering.
Let alone for hardware who uses chips. Since they're not big company, they'd be in queue list.
The global rush by chipmakers to produce AI chips is tightening supply of chips used in smartphones, computers, servers, and gaming hardwares.
Of course they could "make up" any release date but then they'd just to have to announce a delay and delay again which's not felt right either.

Those big techs also use significant amounts of clean, fresh water primarily to cool the high-performance computing servers in data centers that train and run AI models to prevent overheating.

Does it need to be clean or fresh water? Just stick 'em over a river or something.

Sadly yes it does. Clean water is necessary to prevent mineral buildup, corrosion, clogging, and bacterial growth in the cooling systems.
Otherwise the cooling system will be damaged fast.
