Leaked Jet Set Radio Reboot Trailer Thrills Fans with Skate Action

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8NDL0gQ2UA

The 85-second leaked trailer from a 2024 dev build shows familiar characters like Beat, Gum, and Combo pulling parkour tricks, wielding graffiti as weapons, and chatting with new lip-sync features in an open-world reboot teased by SEGA in 2023. Fans celebrated the smooth animations and voiced cutscenes, though some criticized the anime-realistic style shift from the original bold cel-shading and outfit changes. With no reveal at State of Play, eyes are on upcoming events like Summer Game Fest as development continues after 23 years since Jet Set Radio Future.

Well, because the underlying data was completely hallucinated by artificial intelligence just to support whatever he wanted to say, its scientific and factual accuracy was zero. It's just a mere opinion.
I see. I figured, given the AI did most of the work, I wondered how accurate it was.

Looks like it will be mixing skating and free running into the gameplay. I wonder if the tutorial will be just as challenging.

Judging how challenging Shinobi: Art of Vengeance back then, this one probably will be too, even the tutorial (it will become tradition).

I wonder which will be first? VALVe's second wave of Steam Controllers, or Retro-Bit's Dreamcast controllers?
Or the very least, which will I get my hands on first?

Challenge accepted. Especially to get back into the grind.

My bet will be on VALVe's second wave of Steam Controllers since VALVE has more money.

Challenge accepted. Especially to get back into the grind.

That's the spirit!
The leaked trailer has been issued DMCA takedown request by SEGA so that must mean it's really true (not just some fake trailer made with AI).

VIRTUA FIGHTER CROSSROADS Showcase Video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyxSIdfI4fQ

Quote
“The use of firearms in this city will be punished by death.”

In the year 20XX, the Arma Carta ended an era of bloodshed in Vilasapara, allowing the crime syndicates operating there to establish a tenuous balance. Until now.

President Bato has made Vilasapara a key part of his reelection campaign, as he positions the city’s “Vila Fight Fest” as the solution to the country’s economic woes. He seeks to bring the underground fighting tournament to the world stage as a national sport. His plans are probably unrelated to the recent series of attacks on martial artists by a man dubbed The Bakunawa Killer, but who can truly say.

It is at this crossroads that the fates of four strangers will intersect, causing phantoms from decades past begin to stir… and changing the city of Vilasapara forever.

Known as the “City of Martial Arts,” this island city is composed of multiple distinct districts, including a walled central city, entertainment districts, and ...

I just hope I can purchase it with my Steam funds. Though, bank transfer would be fine.

I'm curious if it will be open world. I only played the first Jet Set Radio games, and it was "sort of" open world... well, mostly a really large loop, with parts of that loop only available on certain missions.

Since Crazy Taxi: World Tour is an open-world game (one of the game modes lets players freely drive through sprawling city maps beyond just delivering passengers), I believe Jet Set Radio will be too.

I don't dwell much into it since I'm taking rest from social media right now since right now it's filled with Anti-AI gamer bros insulting and boycotting SEGA. The creator and the lead of Crazy Taxi: World Tour already said that the use of AI is really minimal for background ideas : “We used it as a reference. So our artists would pull up [and] generate some of their ideas and then they would look at that, you know, generated image and then they would draw the actual thing. So actual creators, everything from programming to assets, everything is made by an actual human. It’s only used as a reference for them to look at and then they would actually create the actual thing that would go into the game.” For me, I appreciate that they're at least honest about it and people who don't like it could just not purchase the game but internet somehow sums it up with SEGA is evil since they use AI now.

yeah, I'd rather avoid AI drama.

But the idea of an Crazy Taxi game with a "free drive" mode sounds nice. I would've liked to have explore the city of the original Crazy Taaxi, but given you had to constantly pick up pasengers and game over after a time limit, couldn't really appreciate the effort the level editors put into the game.

Yes, just like Virtua Fighter Crossroads have many modes Crazy Taxi World Tour three has at least three main modes confirmed:

World Tour Story Campaign Mode: A story-driven adventure spanning five different cities to recover a stolen cab.
Classic Arcade Mode: A traditional time-attack mode where you earn the most cash possible before the clock expires.
Multiplayer Modes: Both local and online cross-platform competitive gameplay.

I think World Tour Story Campaign Mode is the one that would interest gamers who wanted to play alone (me included) exploring the maps, find shortcuts, and discover missions at their own pace without worrying about time limits.
