Don't forget, the Vila Fight Fest from the actual game, where it's in-game commercials have a website, the website is real!
https://www.vilafightfest.com/

Ooh.. that's cool.
Reminded me of fake realistic ads and website SEGA's doing for 404 GAME RE:SET back then.

Checking over the discussion board on Steam... not looking too good with AI still being controversial to them.

I know they only used AI images for reference material, but even I am forgiving of them.

They're still talking about it? Damn.  Many other companies also used AI images for reference material but they didn't say it, poor SEGA got punished for being honest.

It's always fun when video games or TV shows have in-lore websites and when you try these websites out of curiosity, you find they are real!

This got me thinking... if I ever do give Unity another try.

If I made a game that by design is entirely by me. As in the models, textures, gameplay, everything exactly by my design... but the fact I lack knowledge of C#, I'm tempted to ask ChatGPT to help in that regard. Should I still be as honest as Sega with what area of use of AI? Or given I simply asked ChatGPT with technical, fidgety parts that players don't really care about, that I don't have to tell my audience about it?

If I was an indie game developer, I don't want to be dishonest to my audience, but I don't want to be that-reliant on AI if I ever get back into Unity. it's like an artist having an AI choose his palette colours for him for a painting, but the audience may still be upset it is AI-generated, some may even be thinking the picture is AI generated when really it is the paint itself that is AI-assisted.

(Plus, I wouldn't be surprised at all if HoYoverse use something like this free AI anime generator for reference pictures to base their gacha waifu's on. As in, if they run out of ideas, just put favourable ideas in the description and generate a picture of a character they can use as reference for a new waifu to add to their games.)

So I read in Eurogamer, there was a 2026 JOGA survey which its result was showing 100% adoption of generative AI among Japanese online game developers, mainly for user preference analysis and behavior prediction using tools like Gemini, Claude, and GitHub Copilot.
Yep, 100%, meaning all of them. I guess they're really honest about it since the survey's anonymous.

Japan, and other Asian development hubs like South Korea, appear to be largely embracing generative AI as a tool for game development. Meanwhile, Western developers are more reserved about its use.
This report also comes at a time when increased skepticism around generative AI is rising, not just from gamers but from investors in Western markets.

Nvidia and SEGA are teaming up again, 30 years after SEGA saved Nvidia from bankruptcy
Virtua Fighter Crossroads is coming to Nvidia's RTX Spark

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vk4lnMMOvIY

Quote
Thirty years after Sega partnered with Nvidia to bring its arcade fighting game Virtua Fighter to PCs running on the Nvidia NV1 multimedia card, the two companies have once again teamed up to launch the franchise's next title, Virtua Fighter Crossroads, on laptops and desktops powered by the Arm-based Nvidia RTX Spark.
The collaboration will also extend to other upcoming Sega titles, the companies confirmed.
The announcements were made earlier today by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang at an event in Tokyo celebrating the 30-year partnership between Sega and Nvidia. The gathering featured a reunion between Huang and former Sega president Shoichiro Irimajiri and was attended by Sega's current CEO Haruki Satomi, COO Shuji Utsumi, and game designer Yu Suzuki.
Speaking at the event, Huang reminisced about how Irimajiri helped save Nvidia from bankruptcy in the 1990s by providing a $5 million cash infusion just as the company was running out of funding. Huang later admitted that Sega's timely investment was the only thing that kept Nvidia afloat and that Irimajiri's "understanding and generosity" saved the company from insolvency.
Sega had previously tapped Nvidia to develop a custom GPU for its Dreamcast console, but eventually canceled the order and used NEC's PowerVR GPU instead, citing Nvidia's outdated technology. Irimajiri still paid Nvidia the $5 million contract fee, but structured the payment as an equity investment, allowing Nvidia to ...

Well, it is a powerful and useful tool, but I think their should be some responsibility over it and not substitute creativity.

For example, I would like to make games, but I lack knowledge on coding. Asking an AI to code for me means I'll be able to concentrate on making the game. But given it will still involve the use of AI, should I be honest about it?

Depended on your investor, how they stance about AI.
Homebrew and indie game developers are usually honest about it since they mostly don't have investors to please.

I guess so, yes. And if I did need an investor, I'll probably have employees by now. Pay someone to code for me. Or learn to code myself.

And your employees probably use AI too to code.
