Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is now the highest rated Shinobi title.

This is good, right? That means Vengeance could be the defibrillator to the Shinobi series franchise, right?

I wonder if the Akujiki/Nightshade universe will get involved for full-3D titles?

Unfortunately they're not as iconic as Joe Musashi so I doubt it.

While Shinobi: Art of Vengeance has a default layout for four-button controllers, it is possible to rebrand the button functions mid-game (an option only available during the game and not in the Start menu options for some reason.)
What do you think of this controller layout for those who want to play Shinobi:AoV with Sega Saturn controllers?
It takes some getting used to if you've grown used to AoV default control scheme, but this custom control scheme is for those who want both a classic gameplay feel to Shinobi and more practical layout for kunai, hook and glider functions.
The only button it does not have assigned is Select button, given Sega Saturn controllers don't have that, may have to resort to [SPACE] on the keyboard or the use of the Pro Controller.
Unfortunately they're not as iconic as Joe Musashi so I doubt it.
I guess so. I'm still uncertain if they take place in the future of mainstream Shinobi games, or AU.

I can't give it much thought since both of my Switch Lite and Steam Deck only have four buttons in front so I just have to adapt what controls they gave me.
But if I had that option, I'll choose to put all controls in front buttons.
If that's not possible to do that then I'll have at least all attack functions in front buttons and leave running & blocking to shoulder buttons.
So yeah, I kinda dig your layout buttons.

Well, Shinobi:AoV is made for modern four-button controllers. But if you could play the game with a Sega Saturn controller, would you map it like classic Shinobi games, or keep it same, but make use of those extra buttons?

I definitely gonna map it.
Not a fan of four shoulder buttons but right now it's unavoidable.

I would say "you could always get a Saturn Pro Controller", but I dunno how financially well off you are for such suggestion. But the Pro Controller is useful for when you want to play old Sega games on PC.
