With the remake of The House of the Dead on it's way to Switch I wonder when Virtua Cop will follow through, given both original games used the same gameplay.

May be, but The House of the Dead franchise is a lot more popular than Virtua Cop since it got more games (around twenty, including pinball of the dead and typing series) than Virtua Cop (just three) so it would make sense to pick it to remake.
