That's true. Our childhood couldn't be separated from school and scholl offers many benefit outside of studying too.
School gave me friends too. I remember once or twice a week I used to go to arcade center with my friends after school's over.
We rarely played though since our parents definitely didn't want we waste money on video games.
Most of the time we're only watching other people played the games which sometimes gave us a clue how to beat a game efficiently with just one coin.
One of my fond memories...
I woke up to see it snowing. Not only that, but it was a thick layer of snow... could it be, a "snow day"? But alas, there was no announcement. So I had to go to school where I met with my BFF.
But instead of going to usual class, the headmaster asked us to go to the gym hall, which was not something we normally do.
As we sat there, the headmaster and the teachers talked amongst themselves. And then they announced it, they cancelled the school day!
The students cheered and got up to leave. But, I stopped my friend from getting up and told him to stay seated. "Why are you stopping me?", he asked. I pointed to the exit and asked "Do you really want to get involved in that?", I pointed to all the students cramming around the door trying to get out. The students didn't care for order or patience, they wanted their snow day. Once the horde "thinned out", then me and my friend left the school with ease.
Given there's no arcade where we lived, our after school activity was going to the library to enjoy the computers... I think I had my own PC at the time, but before I got my own computer, public library computers were my go-to. But even after getting my own PC, my friend and I hanged out at the library after school. That day, we got to go to the library much earlier than expected.
But still, I haven't seen snow that thick before, and likely will ever again. It was so thick, it made a satisfying crunching noise when you walked.
Don't get me wrong, never liked school, I found it a chore. But that's one of my most fondest school memories... mostly for not being a school day.
