Gameplay aside, I can't wait to see the new design of Ax and Tyris. I really dislike the last 3D design of them.
Understandable. But to give Beast Riders some credit, at least it tried to preserve the Hyborian-like barbarian setting the original series tried to emulate. I hope the remakes will do just the same.
It doesn't have a SEGA logo in it so pretty sure this wasn't made by SEGA.
Oh well, I guess third-party tech once again.
And who knows when this product will be ready. It could take years.
My ideal "new Sega console" would be a small form factor gaming computer, like VALVe's Steam Machine. And just like the Steam Machine it would still allow Sega to be a multi-platform corporate just a machine that would be ideal for Sega games. Perhaps fitted with an emulator that allows at least some degree of backwards compatibility.
Yeah, it's the closest thing to ZELDA in a Mega Drive console.
If I was a big-wig at Sega during the '90s, I would've proposed instead of replacing Alex Kidd with Sonic, Alex could compete with the Zelda franchise.

Yeah, I won't deny that.
Actually the concept arts were good, I don't know why the final versions were different.

It's kinda like Steam Deck then ... with emulators installed in it.

Too bad this 16-bit game of him killed any Alex Kidd's future plans at that time.
How could his 8-bit games were better than this.

Development crunch, I think.

Yeah! And if Steam wants, they can start their own digital distribution service while still marketing their games multiplatform.

Ambitious I suppose. That and perhaps the rock-paper-scissors motif was over-done at this point.

Steam might want it but the former console maker (whose games are being emulated) might NOT want it.

They should've use "Alex Kidd in Shinobi World" approach instead.
A parody of existing SEGA franchises.

I meant to say Sega, not steam.

If Alex Kidd was a thriving franchise today, what do you think his games would be like today?

Ah yes, if SEGA wanted it of course.

I'm pretty sure he'll go 3D.
May be something like Mario Odyssey or Sonic Frontiers (without the running fast thing though).

I like to imagine his games competing with the Zelda franchise while still being a platform game like Mario Odyssey or Sonic Frontiers.

I had ideas for an Alex Kidd game which serves as a reboot to the series. One of my ideas to contribute to Alex Kidd would be the Bladecore and Fancore as alternates to Shellcore. Gooseka, Chokkinna, and Parplin would be recast as allies and teachers to Alex who teach these various core techniques. The core techniques are used in combat as well as some puzzle solving that follow the rock-paper-scissors relations.
I even came up with this in-game card game that also use rock-paper-scissors relations to play. The idea was various towns had saloons where Janken's loyalists hang out and Alex could go in and play cards with them. This card game was to replace the regular rock-paper-scissors matches.

When Miracle World DX came out, I decided to forget the idea given no point in a reboot now that we have a remake, but I might reuse the rock-paper-scissors card game idea somewhen along the line.
