It's nice to see Nagoshi still supportive of Super Monkey Ball. Most of his fans believed he simply outgrew and became detatched from such a kiddy-like franchise since Yakuza... that and looking like a Yakuza himself.

Yes, but he left Monkey Ball to dry for quite a few years. And fans were dissapointed with Banana Blitz.

Yes, but he left Monkey Ball to dry for quite a few years.

Because the sales of Banana Splitz weren't good.
The pre-order number were so low in Japan that they had add popular gravure model Yuki Kawamura's "Adult Map" DLC to attract more pre-orders.

It's a logical decision to not putting time and money to franchises that weren't selling well.

And fans were dissapointed with Banana Blitz.

Banana Blitz HD is their way to check if there's any interest in the franchise.
Fortunately despite the bad reviews, the sale number was quite good internationally.

It is rather cutthroat when the success of a franchise depends on the sale of one bad game. But heck if Sonic Team quit everytime we had a bad Sonic game, heavens to think of it...

Because Banana Splitz wasn't a bad game.
It lets us create stages, something that has never been done before in SMB history.
In "Creation Mode" We could take a real-life photo too with Vita's camera, and then changed into a stage.
"Love Maze", the mini game that involves controlling two monkeys at the same time was also fun to play.

It's just the game sold badly no matter how revolutionary it was to SMB franchise.
Sonic games on the other hand, always sold well.
No matter how bad the games they were.

Happy 18 Years Anniversary for N-Gage's Super Monkey Ball !

Quote
After the release of Super Monkey Ball Jr., Super Monkey Ball for the Nintendo GameCube was translated onto the newly-released Nokia N-Gage.
Although choppier than the GameBoy Advance, it features similar mechanics and the traditional features of a Super Monkey Ball game.

I only heard bad reviews about it and disappointment when the game was HDd.

I don't get why people hate bosses in Super Monkey Ball games, for me it made the game's more interesting.
Well may be for speedrunner it's a bummer, so SEGA should've option to turned off boss for speedrunning gameplay.

Most disappointment probably came from those who have played the original Wii version.
HD versions cut many mini games from Wii version since the controls relies on wiimote.
It make the remake feels like inferior version than the original.
Still the game sold well, probably because we haven't got SMB games in many years.

Did You Know Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania Has A Secret Code To Enter?

Quote
In a neat little touch, Banana Mania lets you input a secret, hidden code on the main menu.
By doing so, you can change the track playing in the background from the usual instrumental menu music to its full vocal version.
To do this yourself, simply head to the main menu and hold the left analogue stick in an up-left diagonal position, then press L L R L R R. Ta-da!

Bonito Days Is Basically Monkey Ball's Monkey Target, But Transformed Into A Full Game

Ask any Super Monkey Ball fan to talk about their favourite part of the series, and you'll likely hear the words 'Monkey Target' come flying out of their mouth before you've even had a chance to finish the question.
There's a reason the minigame's so popular – because it's just so good.
So imagine then, if you would, a game that takes Monkey Target's fundamental ideas and transforms them into a full experience, complete with fresh takes on Monkey Ball's iconic gameplay and a charming city pop soundtrack.
That thing you've just imagined is Bonito Days, and it's launching on Switch on 14th October.
