Akira Nagai, Former Managing Director at SEGA, Has Passed Away

We’re sad to report that Akira Nagai, Managing Director at SEGA from 1965 to 2004, has passed away.
Nagai was one of the longest serving managing directors and representatives at the company, initially starting out in jukebox distribution in 1963 at Nihon Goraku Bussan and continuing in amusement machine sales in the 1980s.
During the 1990s, Nagai managed SEGA’s Amusement Theme Park concept which went on to establish several Joypolis venues in Japan in addition to others.
Fans might best remember his likeness from a cameo as a Yakuza boss in the first Shenmue game.

Digitised master footage of Michael Jackson in Scramble Training, a 1993 interactive ridefilm for the AS-1 motion ride simulator developed by Sega.
Thought to be lost even by Sega personnel themselves, the above footage - all localised segments made by writer/director Hiroshi Uemura and Kenji Sasaki, as well as filmed scenes of Jackson - was recently found on a D2 master tape sold at a car boot sale in the United Kingdom, and kindly digitised by the Oxford Duplication Centre after an appeal on Facebook was answered by Mechafatnick .

Episode 12 STORY

Ojisan receives a request to defeat a "singing monster" and heads for the forest. He discovers a huge monster and attacks to defeat it, but it turns out to be Mabel, who lives a self-sufficient life in the forest.
The giant ice sculpture she had erected to keep people away and Mabel's singing voice had somehow become feared as a "singing monster.

Mabel was so pleased by the praise of her singing voice that she proposed to sing a song from Ojisan's home.
The delighted Ojisan teaches Mabel his favorite song.
