Graphically may be they have different style, but Ghost Squad heavily features the familiar arcade mechanics, targeting systems, and cheesy dialogue that made Virtua Cop famous.
Also did you know Virtua Cop series inspired the development of GoldenEye 007?
The developers at Rare originally envisioned the iconic Nintendo 64 game as an on-rails light-gun shooter heavily inspired by Virtua Cop before it evolved into the groundbreaking free-roaming first-person shooter we know today. Still, they kept the game's reloading system, civilian penalties, position-dependent damage, and aiming reticule (activated by holding the "R" button on the controller).

Alas, poor Sega. Always the trendsetter, never the trend.
Joe Fang would be better fit but Janet is more popular.
Is she though? I don't remember her that much.

Also thanks to Yu Suzuki. Sega's AM2 development team was led by Yu Suzuki during this time. They adapted the 3D polygon library used in Virtua Fighter for Virtua Cop.

Without looking into the internet, can you remember the full name of the other two protagonist?
Well, may be you can since you're a SEGA fan but others usually only remember their first name but they can remember Janet's full name, Janet Marshall.

Suzuki's not respected enough, if you ask me.

I remember their names, but I don't remember Janet engaged much, though to be fair, outside of cutscenes, the heroes were behind the camera.
