Graphically may be they have different style, but Ghost Squad heavily features the familiar arcade mechanics, targeting systems, and cheesy dialogue that made Virtua Cop famous.
Also did you know Virtua Cop series inspired the development of GoldenEye 007?
The developers at Rare originally envisioned the iconic Nintendo 64 game as an on-rails light-gun shooter heavily inspired by Virtua Cop before it evolved into the groundbreaking free-roaming first-person shooter we know today. Still, they kept the game's reloading system, civilian penalties, position-dependent damage, and aiming reticule (activated by holding the "R" button on the controller).

Alas, poor Sega. Always the trendsetter, never the trend.
Joe Fang would be better fit but Janet is more popular.
Is she though? I don't remember her that much.

Also thanks to Yu Suzuki. Sega's AM2 development team was led by Yu Suzuki during this time. They adapted the 3D polygon library used in Virtua Fighter for Virtua Cop.

Without looking into the internet, can you remember the full name of the other two protagonist?
Well, may be you can since you're a SEGA fan but others usually only remember their first name but they can remember Janet's full name, Janet Marshall.

Suzuki's not respected enough, if you ask me.

I remember their names, but I don't remember Janet engaged much, though to be fair, outside of cutscenes, the heroes were behind the camera.

Agree, some people only associate him with Shenmue but he made ton of good games before that, including my favorite ... Space Harrier.

I see, may be because I played them in arcade I saw their face every time in the arcade cabinet.

I guess that's not the case with console gamers.

Not just Space Harrier, but Hang-On, AfterBurner, OutRun, every game with the word "Virtua" in its title, I barely scratched the surface of the games he made for Sega.

I could only play the console version given I didn't live in any arcades with Sega games... especially ones made by Yu Suzuki, such as Virtua Cops.

Yeah, almost all games with Virtua title were started by Yu Suzuki. I think there are over 25 officially released games carrying the "Virtua" name but sadly now only Virtua Fighter remains (Virtua Tennis was so close).

That's understandable.
Gaming environment in Europe and Asia were really different.
For example Amiga rules in Europe but we almost never found one here.

Is it too late for Sega to grovel ask Suzuki back?

I dunno how the Amiga did in UK, too be fair I didn't have internet until somewhen after 2000. Back then I only had four television channels to watch, and one of them was in Welsh!

The video game development environment has changed drastically so I don't think it would have any big effect even if he came back.

I grew up with one televison channel only, lol. Back then government controls everything to suit their narative, including television.

I don't know, I think it would improve both Sega's moral and Suzuki may encourage them for more productive direction.

I mean, Shenmue III is still a good game regardless, but just not the same without that Sega flare to it. Meanwhile the Like A Dragon series could be regarded a spiritual successor to the Shenmue series and they have Sega arcades.

I forgot some parts of the world were like that. Do they regulate your internet?

Yu Suzuki was an arcade master, almost all of his masterpieces were arcade games (which then later ported to various consoles).
But for console games, he's not a great planner.
Sword of Vermilion stressed him out because of console limitation (to the point that he didn't want to be credited) and Shenmue's budget got a lot bigger than it's planned to be.
If arcade was still alive may be SEGA won't mind bringing back Suzuki but arcade era has passed now.

Yeah but thankfully we can still use VPN.
