True. That and, well, you can always play God of War: Ragnarok if you want such a game.

Yeah, and God of War: Ragnarok has more Norse Gods representation (Odin, Freya, Freyr, Thor, Heimdall, Thrud, Sif, Tyr, Mimir, and Loki) than Viking: Battle for Asgard (Odin, Freya, and Hel).
Other SEGA game that has more Norse Gods representation probably is, uh, this ...

Still a good game, though.

I may give Viking a go sometime if it's on Steam.

It is on Steam, and currently it's 75% OFF during SEGA Publsher Sale.
Best time to get it I guess since it could suddenly be gone right away just like VT4.

I must had just missed the Steam Sale. No matter, £9.99 is still a decent price.

Yeah, I guess you missed few hours since now the SEGA Publisher Sale has just ended, only a week long I think.
Well, there's always next time if you're patient.
Winter Sale or Holiday Sale is definitely coming during Christmas and New Year.

I hope Sega are making enough money from these sales.

What I don't get is why SEGA putting new games like Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds  and Shinobi: Art of Vengeance on sale frequently and very quickly after release.
They're kinda saying that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds sold well in number (more than 2 million sold) but then saying the game's disappointing in term of financial (many fans bought during sales).

If there is one thing I learned about freemium games from Sonic Speed Sim is that the services values your time just as much as your money. If you won't pay £10 for a skin you want, then you may pay 10 hours to unlock it through menial tasks.

In a way, discounts could be the same thing. Sega can boast how many sales a game is having, but at the cost of not getting as much money from it. If the video game "EXAMPLE" costs £30 and only one-hundred customers can afford it, then they could discount that game to £10 and then three-hundred people would afford it. Sega could then show investors how popular "EXAMPLE" is given three-hundred people brought it. However, three-hundred customers spending £10 or one-hundred customers spending £30 would still result in £3000 for Sega either way.

The only difference between a discount and freemium content is you don't need to jump through hoops to have the game cheap. Customers would simply regard that Sega are being generous and Sega are hoping that generosity alone would be a commercial move for more people to buy the discounted game enough to make ends meet.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorld did not meet sales expectations, nor outsold Mario Kart World, but it did gave MKW a run for it's money and CrossWorld is still a popular racing game given Sonic the Hedgehog as well as other promotional characters such as Sega, Nickelodeon and third-party characters. Both Sonic and these characters have thriving fanbases which means CrossWorld has a lot of clout behind it.

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, while a great instalment to the series, did not meet expectations or sales to Sega. And that while Sega do have a fairly sizeable fanbase for their classic games in general, the individual fanbase for each of their classic games have pretty much stagnated from lack of fresh content and instalments.

Take Bubsy for example, The Woolies Strike Back was his first major game since 1996, and there are fans who would rather excuse Bubsy 3D so 1994 was the last major game before that. Bubsy had not had a major game in 11-14 years. Woolies strike back recieved generally unfavourable reviews while gamers mocked him for his flaws in past games. UFO had pretty much a steep hill when they took on making brand-new Bubsy games. But, instead of calling quits, they continued to make more Bubsy games such as Paws on Fire! which had mixed reviews which is still an improvement over the original. It was here Atari knew the metal was hot enough to strike and released a brand-new Bubsy game with the ballsy title of Bubsy 4D! Granted, still mixed reactions but the game was still praised.

What I'm pointing out with Bubsy is that UFO and Atari put in the effort to revive the series and in doing so, provide fresh content for the old fanbase that was left dry since 3D to have new interest for older fans to return and new fans to join, thus a larger fan base means more positive reviews on games that fans will be more willing to pay for.

I am looking forward to Crazy Taxi: World Tour, Jet Set Radio and Golden Axe, but because these games have had no fresh content in years, doesn't guarantee these games will sell well. Shinobi being the prime example of that. So, Sega can either regard it a hopeless endeavour and cancel those Power Surge games, or should commit to restoring those classic franchises and climb those hills!

10 hours, geez. I could play 10 different homebrew games with that 10 hours, not that I have that much free of time though.

Man, SEGA should stop being generous if they want profit.
Didn't they know that generousity killed the cat?

Okay that's just a pun joke but the message remains same, big companies like Nintendo, EA, and Sony stayed big by being not that kind at all.
Once they decide (like Sony not putting their games on Steam anymore or stop producing physical formats) no fans cry could change their mind.

Bubsy 4D's success is a modest indie-scaled release success though rather than a massive blockbuster. Nothing SEGA developed right now is in indie-scaled, they said their games are aiming go big or go home.

Well, for Sonic Speed Sim, takes about 2-3 hours to do an event. But depends how much time you want to commit to it, such as doing half now, half late.

Their success is not just from being cut-throat over kindness, but also keeping their franchises fresh and active. Even games series that haven't had any new content in a long while, such as EarthBound or StarFox, still have cameos in major games or promotions. Zelda, Pokémon and Kirby meanwhile get new games every few years which kepe their fanbases large and active.

My point is, Bubsy still got out of the gutter. Granted his games are small time or indie, but people are starting to take him more seriously as a video game hero.

2-3 hours are reasonable I guess.

Actually that's just few from many IPs that Nintendo have.
The Gamer reports Nintendo is the game company with the most IPs, clocking in at 356.

For comparison SEGA only has 112, and those already include IPs from Atlus and Rovio.

My point is, Bubsy still got out of the gutter. Granted his games are small time or indie, but people are starting to take him more seriously as a video game hero.

I don't know, none of my friends or my game groups members are enthusiastic about the return of Bubsy or buying new Bubsy games day one, at best they're just just saying, "Oh, he's back? Nice for him."

But Nintendo still keep their core franchise active. Zelda, Kirby, Pokémon, Mario and, hell, Smash Bro games being a list of their most invested IPs.

The fact they still think it was nice he's back is still an improvement over "Oh, he's back. :-\ "

And SEGA still keep their core franchises too. Sonic, Puyo Puyo, Phantasy star, Virtua Fighter, and Yakuza. Every company has different core franchises they choose.

The fact they still think it was nice he's back is still an improvement over "Oh, he's back. :-\ "

The same was also said to Zool, Rocket Knight Adventures, and Kao the Kangaroo too.

Sonic, Puyo Puyo, Phantasy Star and Virtua Fighter are the only ones with history with Sega. Yakuza, Two-Point Hospital, Angry Birds and Total War were rather recent additions to the Sega family. Meanwhile, only recently games like Shinobi, Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi are getting new games. We did had the Sega Renaissance with Alex Kidd DX, Streets of Rage 4, The House of the Dead Remakes, Kinda Funky Newsflash and Panzer Dragoon, but those games were not developed or produced by Sega, and THotD is the only remake that got a sequel.

Did they had come backs recently?

Four are still a lot. Compared them to Capcom, Namco, or Konami.

Yakuza, Two-Point Hospital, Angry Birds and Total War were rather recent additions to the Sega family. Not just THotD. Panzer Dragoon Remake also got sequel.

Yes.
