Yeah animated probably. Though it's also possible with puppets too.

I'm not at all surprised given Knuckles got his own spin-off TV series.
Not only that, with having to wait two years for the fourth movie, a TV series will tide us over until then.

Yeah animated probably. Though it's also possible with puppets too.

Even i doubt Jim Henson could pull off a movie adaption of a video game.

I always love to see the documentaries of him and Frank Oz when they tried to make the muppet worked outside of the studio.

I think if it's a movie, it'll be direct-to-TV, or Paramount+ in this case. But I believe, like Knuckles, it be a TV series.
Maybe, if lucky, they would get Jim Carrey on board given a headcanon of mine is shadow saves Dr. Robotnik at the nick of time.
But at the same time, as much as I like Dr. Robotnik, I think the fourth movie should have Agent Stone or Neo Metal Sonic as the new main villain and give Dr. Robotnik a break. Have everyone "believe" he is dead and he returns in Sonic 5, or at least 4's post-credit teaser.

[/quote]True, but Sonic and Crash Bandicoot are rather active characters. Even if there has been a few energetic muppets, to apply that action and thrill to them would be... challenging.

True, but Sonic and Crash Bandicoot are rather active characters. Even if there has been a few energetic muppets, to apply that action and thrill to them would be... challenging.

Yeah, challenging indeed for Sonic, but for Crash I think it's still could be done depended on the genre. It could also be half animated like Roger Rabbit, but it will be too expensive.

No one can replace Jim at this point. he's too big. So big he had to play two roles for Sonic 3.

Hard, but not impossible. Carrey maybe a gem for the series, but as I think, they should give him a break and concentrate on another villain for the film.

Last year, the film Sonic the Hedgehog 3 starring Jim Carrey as the villain zipped to the top of the North American box office in one of the best December openings in years.
It followed the first live-action Sonic movie in 2020, as Sega cashes in on a video-game movie craze that saw The Super Mario Bros. Movie, based on the Nintendo characters, become the second-highest grossing film of 2023.
“Shinobi” is also being turned into a film, while Sega’s “Yakuza” game series has been adapted for television.
When asked if cult franchise “Persona” could be next, Sega’s Utsumi said fans should “stay tuned”.
“We are talking to a lot of interesting potential partners. So we are under some discussions, but ...”
