Jeff Fowler announced that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has begun filming, teasing Amy Rose’s hammer and confirming Kristen Bell will voice her.

Since he's casted as a "key role", he could be Neo Metal Sonic ... or old version of Robotnic from the future ... or both. Or a new entirely villain but I doubt it.

If it's from different universe, it could've been played by another actor.
