Yes, but this return could be just for flashback scenes with Metal Sonic.
Or Neo Metal Sonic disguised as Dr. Robotnik.

The trailer theme sounds like Sonic Boom from Sonic CD.

It is indeed a remix of it.

John Wick Creator's Streets of Rage Movie Adaptation Gets Disappointing Update 4 Years Later

Quote
When Derek Kolstad was asked for a progress update on the Streets of Rage movie adaptation, he confirmed that the project is "actively inactive, like most projects in Hollywood," expressing uncertainty as to why Lionsgate hasn't pulled the trigger, but expressed that "I love that script":
Derek Kolstad said, "I spent a lot of time on it. It's still actively inactive, like most projects in Hollywood. It's over at Lionsgate. It's such a cool script. And what I love about that movie, too, is I always talk about it's 16 Blocks by way of The Raid. So, once you hit page 17, there's no letting up until page 101. I haven't heard anything about ..."

So the script is written, but in Hollywood Hiatus?

I hope he didn't sign off the rights to the scripts to Liongate beforehand and can present it to other studios if Liongate doesn't step up to it.

Yeah, afterall Lionsgate is still busy with Michael Jackson's Biopic movie "Michael",  Margot Robbie-produced "Monopoly", and "Outlast".

But that doesn't mean another studio will pick up though.
Even if they pick up, they could also give it a Hollywood hiatus treatment again.

Paramount might if they still want to do the "Sega Cinematic Universe" thing.

There's a Monopoly movie?

They got more licensing nigtmare works to do then since Yakuza, Outrun, Shinobi, The House of the Dead, etc are being licensed by another studios.

They would've had the problem if they just asked Paramount.

Monopoly adapting Star Wars, I can believe. Pretty sure they already did that.
Just dunno how a Monopoly movie could work.

It's not that simple.
Paramount wouldn't accept anything just because it's a SEGA franchise.
They'll also do their own market research too.
Not every movie adapted form viideo game will be succesful.

Probably it would be as absurd and comedical as Barbie movie too.

They could've started a Sega Cinematic Universe.

It's too late now.

They didn't expect Sonic to be a hit back then.
And may be it wouldn't be a hit if they still use the ugly Sonic design.

Yeah, but remember the last Ha$bro boardgame that got a movie?

Actually I don't hate that movie.
