When Derek Kolstad was asked for a progress update on the Streets of Rage movie adaptation, he confirmed that the project is "actively inactive, like most projects in Hollywood," expressing uncertainty as to why Lionsgate hasn't pulled the trigger, but expressed that "I love that script":
Derek Kolstad said, "I spent a lot of time on it. It's still actively inactive, like most projects in Hollywood. It's over at Lionsgate. It's such a cool script. And what I love about that movie, too, is I always talk about it's 16 Blocks by way of The Raid. So, once you hit page 17, there's no letting up until page 101. I haven't heard anything about ..."

I hope he didn't sign off the rights to the scripts to Liongate beforehand and can present it to other studios if Liongate doesn't step up to it.

Yeah, afterall Lionsgate is still busy with Michael Jackson's Biopic movie "Michael",  Margot Robbie-produced "Monopoly", and "Outlast".
