She said in her opinion that while Sega makes good niche games, that's all they're doing now. They're not making the game where the character is memorable anymore. At least to the masses.
Actually it's more that NO ONE is making memorable characters anymore. Everyone is either hyper realistic, and/or a space marine.
I disagree, just a handful from this generation:
*Dead Rising had Frank West (He's covered Wars you know?)
*MadWorld had Jack Carver, Black Baron (Stop Starin')
*Bayonetta
*Mass Effect has Tali, Garrus, Wrex, and... pretty much most of the crew
*No More Heroes had all the bosses and Travis Touchdown
And as much as you might not like them, even ultra realistic characters can be great and memorable (Sam Fisher for example is a great character, Ditto John Marsdon from Red Dead Redemption.), as can space marines. What's wrong with Master Chief? I think he's a great character, instantly recognisable and iconic.
Aaaanyway, as for Sega... I gotta go with Kazuma Kiryu. The fact that the games are brilliant help a lot, but he's a cool character. Not to mention he has the best
nomme de guerre I've heard in a while 'The Dragon of Dojima'.
