NE1 test JSRF and Shenmue II on 360 slim?
« on: October 16, 2010, 01:32:40 pm »
Are both games fully compatible with 360 Slim?

How do they play?

I heard that JSRF had slowdown on the original 360.

What about the JSRF/Sega GT combo disk, does it work with 360 slim?

Do they display in VGA without problems?

thanKs!

Shenmue II works flawlessly except you can't use the filters and the arcade games will lock up the game. The prologue movie (impotant moments of the first game) shows up smaller for some reason, but it's not a big deal.

As for the bundled JSRF, it plays normally. The last update corrected most flaws. I did't test it throughly though. I remember GT2002 running smoothly but considerably slower than if played on an original Xbox.

My bet is you won't be disappointed with either experience ;)

EDIT: I can't remember if they worked with VGA.. I know Shenmue did but only in 4:3

And I played them on the obese 360. I would expect for them to play as well on the Slim.

Are you referring to slowdown in JSRF?

From what I understand, the 360 Slim doesn't actually have any changes concerning the emulation aspects.

I know that the GT2002/JSRF double disk did not work on emulation, I had to buy JSRF standalone to play it (unless it did work, and there was some issue with 50/60hz voodoo or something...).

In any event, I wouldn't expect any changes, if it worked on 360 Fat it should work on 360 Slim and Vica Versa.

The GT2002/JSRF double disk DOES WORK. Maybe it doesn't with some cables/televisions, but I did play it.

And yes, I was referring to the slowdown. From what I remember JSRF was corrected.

~~~~
I just found this on the web about JSRF:
Quote
Noticeable slowdown in some stages. Flickering and obscured text in pause menus. Textures may disappear after leaving pause menu. Custom graffiti can only be done for SS, S, and M sizes on a zoom. L or XL will not work. If the player does not zoom in, they will NOT be able to see their creation at all. Note for PAL/NL users, Change the locale to 'United Kingdom' and 50Hz. PAL version bundled with Sega GT 2000 does not support VGA cables due to the 50Hz start-up menu.
I personally don't remember slowdown nor flickering. But I did not play it much on the 360..
Ahh yes, I think you are right, it DOES work, but it needs to be in a specific Hz range or something, which is why I couldn't get it to work.
Thanks for the details. I need the JSRF/Sega GT combo disk to work as that is the copy I have. Glad to hear JSRF is fixed. I imagine Shenmue should join Shenmue II as a digital title on 360. I sold Orta and Gun Valkyrie because they wouldn't 480p on my model of Xbox 1. I might buy them back now and give them a shot on 360.  Rez, Ikaruga, and Radiant Silvergun in HD might round off my Sega collection if I decide to get a 360.
Just about made up my mind to get one when I heard that Capcom vs Snk 2 is not compatible. Damn, Capcom.:roll:
^Got nothin to do with Capcom, it's all MS's responsibility to make games Backwards compatible with their hardware.
Besides, it'll probably be online at some point in time... then again theres probably reams of legal issues because it's a join SNK/Capcom venture...
Ahh I had the same trouble with my Crystal X-Box .Pal Orta works on the 360  but only you can get past the 3rd level and Pal (or any version for that matter)  GV doesn't work at all on the 360
And yes the Combo disc works fine
I got a Xbox on craigslist for 10 dollars. I used it to play a few Xbox games I still had after I sold it out back in 2005 to get a 360.
I think they are rather cheap at used places. Basically I would not bother with the 360's emulation. If you want to play Xbox games, the best way is the original hardware.
It sort of depends on the game, Quite a lot run fine and look much better in 720p, others don't not .
I have an original Xbox and Neoya VGA adaptor.  The games look beautiful and crystal clear rivaling and exceeding DC VGA in some cases.  I'm just a minimalist in terms of owning consoles. I disdain having a big clunker Xbox for essentially 2 games.  Would really like to replace it with a 360 slim and have Ikaruga HD, damn Treasure is screwing PS3 owners..
Any further specifics on JSRF and Shenmue II to what crackdude shared I would appreciate hearing them.
They run no problems, only bad is both play in 4.3 . That said both run like a dream and JSRF simply looks incredible in 720p.
