Crazy Taxi XBLA/PSN thread
« on: November 16, 2010, 05:30:44 am »
Crazy Taxi comes out today on the PSN (because of their stupid scheduling that basically means tomorrow) and next Wednesday on the XBLA. Who is getting it?

Not sure if I will be picking it up because I am really miffed with what they did to the iconic soundtrack. I love the game though, so I will at least check out the demo of it first. I am really really tempted by the online leaderboards, though.

Meh. To be honest, I was never really a big fan of the franchsie. Enjoyed it a lot as a kid, the missions were fun.

My gripe with the game is that it's too arcade. There is no free roaming option feature. As a kid I loved roaming/cruising aroudn the city but the time limit just kind of forced me out.

^^^HEEEEY, WATCH IT!! What are ya, stupid?! Can't you pay more attention?!

*Cough*

Seriously though, I know what you mean entirely. I was always like that too. I am not too sure how to do it, but I think in Original Mode you can set the time to like 15 minutes or something, which is more than enough time to just freely explore the world. That is what I did.

They will probably let you do that in the demo.

In today's gaming world, there isn't ENOUGH arcade. So I welcome anything arcadey. There is a free roam mode, as mentioned, that gives you more than enough time to drive about, so no worries. I was on the fence about buying it, but who am I kidding? I need to download every Dreamcast re-release. Except for maybe Bass Fishing, as I recently bought the original and the fishing controller.

I played the PSP version, and the missing music really does affect the experience.
Anybody know if the PSN/XBLA version allows for custom soundtracks?

Doubtful that it will let you choose, but all Xbox 360 releases let you replace any music with your own. Even then, it is not that great as the music will keep going until you turn it off yourself. Kind of breaks the authenticity of it all when you hear the same music in the menus and stuff.

Get the Wii version whenever you get the platform. It has a bunch of new levels that are not on any other release and is like $5 nowadays.

Now that I've had some time to mellow on the removal of the soundtrack, and that I know Crazy Box is intact, I think I probably will pick this up. I'm getting so bogged down with games though, I might put it off for a little while. I'm still playing through New Vegas, somebody got me a copy of Black Ops (Which I've been playing the multiplayer of a bit), I got GoldenEye on Wii and still playing some KOF 2k2 with friends. I might still get it and just put BLOPS on the back-burner or something.

SEGA really chose two bad games for their 'launch' of Dreamcast games. First a edited Crazy Taxi and a full screen version of Sonic Adventure?

Maybe Sonic Adventure wasn't a horrible choice. Next Adventure 2 with 'fixed' ads and no Soap shows? Sonic whining will increase 200% and that is saying something after Sonic Colors and Sonic Free Riders came out days apart.

I don't want SA2 to be anything else than exactly the same. I'll still get it if it's edited though, but I won't enjoy it as much I'm sure..

Kinda sad to see Crazy Taxi megafans disappointed with this game's music.

I'll buy it. My DC copy stutters on one of the Offspring songs, so I'd love to play the game again without that severe annoyance.

I hope they announce more games, I'm jazzed about Space Channel 5 but would love more encouragement.

Damn, does this game ever have some easy achievements. =P

I can't imagine playing this game without the DC pad, though... xD I'm sure that will greatly affect my scores.

Confirmed: PSN version allows you to use custom music. I played a few runs with Pelican - Strung up from the Sky. Issue is that, for some reason, the vocals are 'lower' and when you finish the run, it won't shut the music off and put the original menu music.
