Yeah, basically none of the names are the actual names. NGP, Uncharted, Sony Bend. ... they said when they started it was all code names.  But we can just complain anyway.

Looks like it has a solid line-up of games. If this has a decent price I might buy this instead of the 3DS. (though I would still buy the 3DS later on)

It's all about the games for me. I'll pick up either one/both whenever there are enough good games to warrant a purchase.

Same.... I wonder what the launch games will be

Dead concept, watch it fail.

Nobody over the age of 12 would want to be caught dead playing this or 3DS in public.

Smartphones for the win.

You are far too self-concious.

Having said that, I'm not entirely convinced this will take off either. Also, Smartphones are for CASUAL MAINSTREAM gamers.

People with low self esteem usually are self-conscious.

PSP sold 50 million plus, I think this will do way better if priced right. It basically is a PSP, with everything 10x better and fixes every complaint.

Except it is not portable anymore. It is fucking massive.

It will fail. The handheld market was never a war on tech, platforms with better games and better marketing always won.

But hey, PSP is like a nut that you can play outside. This must be like, a coconut.

I agree.  Look at the iPad.  the bigger screen is worth it for most people, even though they can't stuff it in their pocket.

I think today's portable gaming system size limit is 8.5x11", as any backpack, messenger bag or briefcase can easily  fit it. On the train ride I see a number of people with iPads, a few with DSi XL and one guy with an old PSP. Even though my Caanoo and iPod Touch are pocket size, I keep them in my messenger bag. The Caanoo is in a case meant for a DSi XL.

The size of it is:
83.55 mm (3.289 in) (h)
182 mm (7.2 in) (w)
18.6 mm (0.73 in) (d)

This will be a couple of inches (since its really 5 inches) than the Droid X, which is pocket size.

Fun Fact: DSi XL is bigger than the PSP2 91.4 mm long × 161 mm wide × 21.2 mm tall. I own it, its not pocket size obviously, but its portable enough.

I have a feeling a newer model later will shave off almost 2 inches with a slight out pad like PSPGO.

I think I'll wait for the newer model. I'm a big fan of the PSP Go design.

It's hardly any bigger than the PSP slim or the DS (what about the DSI), They are not portable ?.

What are you on about ?. I-pad, netbooks, PC and Facebook spell Doom for the consoles ?, Mobile's spell the end for Camera's ?

Fact is the NGP is a generation ahead and that will show in the games, where you'll have a totally different gaming experience to that for the I-pad or Mobile.

There is a market for both.

One thing that concerns me about putting an NGP in my pocket is how far the sticks stick out when I have it in my pocket, and maybe even get ruined.
