I find it curious that they chose to go for this Planet of the Apes prequel. I would highly recommend watching the original Charlton Heston version which includes the mother of all twist endings (the script was penned by famed Twilight Zone creator, Rod Sterling).

If you're a Twilight Zone and Planet of the Apes fan, check out the fan edit (if you haven't already) that turns the film into a 25 minute Twilight Zone episode: http://www.theforbidden-zone.com/video/twzone_apes_480.mov

Pretty clever stuff, like reframing and the black and white colors. Also, the narration is lifted from another TZ episode and fits perfectly.

Trying to find a working link of the Amazing Spider-Man trailer at the moment. Not to post here, it would be down before anyone saw it. Just want to see it myself.

Personally I am VERY uninterested in the reboot. It has only been ten years and we're already getting a reboot retelling?? Why? What the fuck? Worse still, yet another variation on Uncle Ben's death. Another variation on how Peter Parker is bitten. Lizard is the villain (finally) and yet it is in a reboot that we get to see it. Not in the fourth film of a series that was actually building up Dr. Connors transformation. There is just so much of the reboot that either is old-hat or elements stupidly changed up for the sake of being different from the last one.

I think Raimi totally had a great fourth film in him. I would have loved to see Connors (of Raimi canon) become the lizard, and it becomes a race between Spider-Man and Kraven the Hunter to either save or kill him. Think The Most Dangerous Game set in New York. Bonus: no secondary characters bogging things down. Harry is at peace, MJ can be off at home chilling out, maybe planning for their wedding.

Instead, it's a reboot-a-rama!

I agree with you Barry.  I wonder what made Producers think this was a better way to go.  Maybe they thought 3 movies should be it, or they reallly hated Spiderman 3, which isn't fIr since Raimi was pressured to pit Venom in it.  It was a B- movie rather than an A like the other two.

At the very least, I would have put up with a recast of Peter and MJ and had the movie continue from the last one in terms of their relationship and Dr. Connors becoming lizard, using the same actor from 1-3 for Connors. I'd even be okay with a new director (though I'd like Raimi as a producer just as how Bryan Singer produced First Class). Go sort of the James Bond route where its the same Bond and just a different actor. Like how the Connery, Lazenby and Moore films all followed the same ongoing plot (Bond's dead wife and SPECTRE being the continuing thread).

Even if Amazing Spider-Man turns out to be good, which I'll admit it might, it's just too much retreading too soon. Batman deserved a reboot, but I just don't think Spider-Man does.

^ Yeah! I saw a clip for that over at aintitcool.com. I was surprised by the quality of the CG ape and the fact that John Freakin' Lithgow is in it!

Amazing Spider-Man reboot trailer:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNhZDL930_E#ws

Same opinions as before: unnecessary reboot, don't really care to see another origin story, is it just me or are they trying to be all serious in a Dark Knight sort of way? And whats with Peter's parents being in the movie?

In other news, X-Men First Class blu-ray art revealed:
http://www.comicmix.com/news/2011/07/21/x-men-first-class-hits-home-video-september-9/

Sounds pretty slick! I like the alternate covers, and the fact that they fit perfectly with the original X-Men blu-ray package design:

I'm more excited for Spider-man now that I've seen the trailer. (I wasn't excited for it at all before).
Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised, like I was with First Class. That looked and sounded pretty crappy from all the marketing stuff I saw, but turned out to be my favourite in the series.

I think similar low expectations will help this movie out in the long run...for me at least.

The trailer mostly makes me want to play Mirror's Edge.

WTF the teaser for Spider-man lolo.  I mean. You get a hot red head, give her a roll in a spider-man movie where she plays a hot red head... but force her to dye her hair blonde for the movie. Am I missing something?

Also, the first person CGI wasn't very good. I mean, it was... very... fake. Besides that, it looks like a Spider-man movie... the retelling of the first one. I don't know why we need it, the first one was good enough.

Who is the villain for this one?

The Lizard.

Personally, I enjoyed Green Goblin as the first villain Spidey faced. Yes, the Goblin suit sucked, but I thought Peter vesus his best friend's dad was a far stronger connection than a science teacher. Unless they really push the relationship between Peter and Connors in this new film.... and I mean relationship on a strictly professional level. Though it'll be tough to not make it too much like Spider-Man 2 with Doc Ock. That was another teacher figure who he had respect for, turned into a monster and Peter had to help/fight him.

The character is most likely Gwen Stacy or Liz Allen, both of who were blondes.

Just looked it up. Shes Gwen Stacy. Eh. Why does Hollywood love getting fake blondes? They did this with Fantastic 4 as well. There are plenty of hot blonde actress' .

I haven't seen any of the Final Destination films, but a trailer for Final Destination 5 came out a little while ago and I thought I'd show it for anyone who was interested.

Well I caught Midnight in Paris last week with this girl, the trailer kind of blows, but it has tons of great actors and was written/directed by Woody Allen. I dug the shit out of it, has a 92% on RottenTomatoes, I recommend it:
