7 hours, over 1400 deaths, and I've finally reached the final boss in Super Meat Boy.
I ran into this one section that I really couldn't figure out how to get around, so I looked up a clip on youtube. I can pretty confidently say that there's very little chance I'll beat this game. Most levels in the game are really tough, but only take about 30 seconds or less to beat when done correctly. This video showed a perfect run, that took over 2 minutes. That's 2 minutes of hyper alertness, that I don't think I'm physically capable of.
Even if I made it through everything, and hit the last buzzsaw, I'm pretty sure I would have a legitimate breakdown.
The game's been tough, but fair up to this point. Now it's just gotten mean .
I know the section you are talking about, and it is very rough. You can continue right after the boss though! I think that last area took me about half an hour to beat, probably more.
However, I think you should try to beat it. I know it will be frustrating, but the only really really hard part is that first jump under and over the first saw, otherwise it is not TOO tough. I would say some of the earlier ones are harder.
When I finally beat that section I had a really warm feeling pass over me, almost as if I really accomplished something great.
But I would never ever attempt all of the "Beat this entire world without dying" achievements in the Steam version, that is just silly. Literally no one in the world have the last few, which says a lot with how popular the game is.
Still playing through Sonic 3 & Knuckles on the Caanoo. When I completed Launch Base act 2 and went to Mushroom Hill act 1, I entered the secret door Knux closed and entered the underground emerald shrine. My three emeralds appeared on the shrine as darkened super emeralds, I touched one, completed a special stage and then earned a super emerald. Then I exited and resumed the game. Obviously I've done this before, but the whole thing felt really weird to me.
I am really shocked with how big of a Sonic fan you are that you have not played through this game in over ten years.
The Super Emeralds were kind of a last minute thing, they are not really part of the "Story", neither are Hyper Sonic, Hyper Knuckles or Super Tails, they are all kind of an extra thing.
I highly suggest you beat the game without all of the emeralds first though, to see the extra images and different endings.
Beating the game with just Sonic will give you just a Sonic avatar on your save file, beating it with all of the chaos emeralds will give you a picture of Super Sonic, beating it with all of the Super Emeralds gives you a Hyper Sonic one, and then beating it all over again gives you an emblem of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles.
I prefer to beat the game without the emeralds though, I think playing as Super or Hyper forms kind of sucks and ruins the fun. Never really knew why the fans wanted it back in the series so much...
