Although I wasn't planning on it, I picked up Halo Reach this morning.
It's pretty great, the singleplayer is much tighter than the other games and you don't just walk around corridors shooting aliens speaking English.

Halo has never been about 'walking around corridors'. All the games have featured big and interesting maps (Even the first game, despite it's corridors at the end, had some really great levels).

Just beat Super Metroid for the first time. Thankfully the last boss was easier than Ridley.
Now I'll finally get around to playing that copy of Other M that's been sitting on the shelf since it came out.

I wonder why I only really remember walking through corridors from the first two games, I do recall Halo 3 being a lot more open though.

Anyway, I've played some more and am really enjoying the campaign, it has a far better single-player than BFBC2 and it looks fantastic; even if it does seem sub-hd.

I also found that Firefight supports matchmaking and have been having a blast (pun very much intended) playing the mode with rocket launchers and jet packs.

I hope that I get into the multiplayer on this one, I played a couple of matches yesterday and had a lot of fun. I think earning credits gives a good sense of progression and will keep me coming back.

Completed the Halo: Reach campaign earlier on Normal and immediately started again on Legendary.

Move comes out tomorrow so will be picking it up, assuming there are enough in stock to fulfill my pre-order.

There were a number of corridor levels, but I always remembered the open areas in Halo 1 and 2 the most. Like the Silent Cartographer or Rolling Thunder in Halo 1 for example.

Anyway, I played a bit of Reach too, really loved it. Firefight is an absolute ball. The matchmaking is great too, theres so many options it's mind boggling.

This weekend is "Free Gold Weekend", so I might be playing some games with my old XBL friends this weekend.

Otherwise, all I've been playing is Shining Force EXA. ^__^

Halo Reach's story was awesome. Kind of took me by surprise just how much I cared about the characters at the end of the game, even though the setting is so short and all.

Great campaign. Not sure if I can say it was the best in the series, but a lot of things really impressed me. Especially the AI. Seriously that might be the smartest AI I have ever seen in a game to date. Sometimes they were just so overwhelming that I had to run out of the area and either fight them a new way or leave the area altogether. Playing Firefight by myself too, had an absolute blast, might be the best "Horde mode" like thing yet. I am going to be playing the shit out of this game for a very, very long time.

Also playing Sonic Adventure on the XBLA. Going to try and get all of the achievements if possible. The leaderboard stuff is great man, weekly leaderboards too? WTF, even most retail games do not have that.

I'm up to level seven in Halo: Reach. This game is good, but it's lacking something. I'm yet to see a memorable moment.

Played a bit more Metroid: Other M last night.
The controls are pretty odd, but I'm getting used to them.  Not bad, just different than pretty much any 3D game out there.

You should try Firefight matchmaking, it is awesome!
If your gold membership has ran out I have a 2 day pass that I can give you the code to to try it.

I've been mostly playing with my new PS move kit- impressions in the Motion control wars hate fest topic.
