^^^You mean to say it is not optimized for the platform accordingly. When in comparison to the original hardware, it is perfect in the sense it plays exactly like the originals did.

Emulating a console means exactly that, the program is designed to work exactly like the original platform did, and as far as Wii Virtual Console games are concerned outside of the Neo Geo, it is perfect.

Not defending Nintendo here. I would like extra features and whatnot, but... It had to be done...

And NES games for 5 bucks is OK. That's a nice price for nice games. And not having the interface is good, cause I've said before I think the interface is crippling.

If they were properly emulated I would agree with you. But they are not. Yes, I use component cables with my Wii. If I'm paying for badly emulated games I guess I'm better off downloading an emulator and the ROM, even if that means breaking the law so I can amuse myself for a little while.
Can't comment on that.. I've never tried it out on the Wii.. :/

Well Sanus, that's the thing, if I just want a couple of them why would I want the whole interface?
It's all a scheme.

I went to go see a movie yesterday, I just wanted to go see one movie, but they had all these posters up for other ones, and the cinema was really nice inside and air conditioned rather than being some urine soaked concrete warehouse. It's all a scheme to get me to see more movies! The Bastards!

No, dude. Because the image is stretched if the game works! I hardly call that good emulation. But to each his own I guess.

Well, yes. Yes it is. LOL
I just think that having a big library in the Game Room turns out more expensive than it should be.

That's always the difference between buying bulk and buying single things though. I could go and buy 24 cans of Cola from a vending machine and it was cost me far far more than if I bought a case at the Supermarket. Thing is, I don't always WANT to have 24 cans, sometimes I just want the one.

If you want to buy tons of old games then get a compilation disk, if you just want to play Yars Revenge and a handful of other games from various developers and time periods, go to the game room  :afroman:

Battlezone is a biggie, but I agree that the others are not too exciting. Mega Zone could be fun.

I think for like seven or so games a week this is all fine. I want to see what Oink is all about, so I will play it then at least!

Yeah, 'Oink!' may be the killer app Game Room needs. ;) I'm curious about that one myself.

I just remembered another good thing about Game Room: the demos! A free 10 minute unrestricted play session of each game available.

Even the biggest game room hater will have the opportunity to play seventy minutes of new games a week for free! C'mon, you're not spending any money, and are only sacrificing a little harddrive space in exchange for free gameplay. That's something, isn't it?

Yeah, seventy minutes of free new gameplay per week is really awesome. Though I prefer more traditional trials.

Battlezone is awesome. Great on the 2600 too.

I picked up Pitfall and plan on getting one more game next week (unless something even better is in pack 5). I think I found a very sneaky way to get medals in Pitfall. Hint: there are no obstacles in the first frame.

Game Room avatar items:

I'm not too into avatar items (except for the Ryo Jacket and Amigo sombrero) but I'll give them credit, they look pretty cool. Especially the Yar's Revenge ring (women only) and Pitfall Harry prop. Won't be buying them, though.

The name 'Yar's Revenge' was a play on name of the Atari CEO 'Ray Kassar'.

Yar is Ray spelt backwards and he was from the planet Razak (Kassar spelt backwards).
