Upon completing each stage and boss, players are rewarded with new villain-inspired outfits and ninpo techniques for Joe Musashi, usable in both the DLC and main campaign. Finishing the DLC also unlocks a dedicated Boss Rush Mode for replaying these challenges. I did lose a couple of times against some of these bosses but the battles and the music theme that goes along with it are so good that it made me come back for more! Lizardcube has done an amazing job on their research to make sure to capture SEGA’s beloved bosses faithfully while making their battles fun and ...

Golden Axe | Official Announcement Trailer | Paramount+

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sStbBtfGaLA

Quote
Golden Axe premieres September 16 only on Paramount+.

In an homage to SEGA’s iconic 1989 video game, Golden Axe follows legendary warriors Ax Battler, Tyris Flare and Gilius Thunderhead as they reunite to save Yuria from the evil giant Death Adder, who just won’t seem to stay dead. Their quest is complicated by Hampton Squib, an inexperienced and wildly underprepared adventurer whose dream of heroism far exceeds his abilities. Forced to work together despite their flaws, they must find a way to stop Death Adder once and for all.

I know it's a comedy cartoon so the design took many liberties but still ... what's happened to Ax' nose?

I'm more concerned over the comment section. Yeah I expected a few negative comments but not all of them! I really want to give this show a chance and hope the comments doesn't mean everyone will hate it.

I mean, Golden Axe TV series is made by the same people who made Star Trek: Lower Decks. It took a franchise that normally have taken-seriously sci-fi series and makes cartoon comedy out of it, and fans loved it. Isn't this the same with Golden Axe?

Well, TV series fans and gamers are mostly different kind of people.
They won't get into details of who made the animated series. They just saw the SEGA logo and were afraid that this comedic approach could affect the upcoming Golden Axe game.

I doubt it. And even if it did, would that entirely be a bad thing?

Beast Riders was Golden Axe' first big break in 3D. Past games had simple plot around revenge while Beast Riders had a major story, also about vengeance, sorcery and brutalism. But despite its tone, instead of being Golden Axe' big break, it just broke the series itself.

Don't get me wrong, I would love the Golden Axe series to not only be revived, but carry on the spirit of primal-fantasy yet drama established by Conan the Barbarian! But, as I learned/accepted with The House of the Dead/Resident Evil, if you want to play a game like Conan the Barbarian, then go play Conan, Age of Conan or Exiles. If The House of the Dead isn't going to be a serious zombie-shooting scary game as I believe it can be, then go play Resident Evil.

Also, a barbarian-fantasy setting with comedy elements can work really well if it has the right balance of action, adventure and humour. Korgoth of Barbaria being a prime example of this. (I can't find full Pilot episode on YouTube, so SeeFlix will have to do.)

So while Golden Axe TV series will be a comedy, I trust it's in the right hands.

If the comedic approach is good and original then sure. But the series trailer doesn't show it very much.
It just feels like they just use the same old tropes found and many. The impression I get from the trailer (and of course I could be wrong) :

Tyris = girlboss
Ax = dumb mutt brute
Gilius = grumpy old man

Fans are already mad when they make Knuckles dumb in Sonic Boom, but if they make Ax like that too I'm sure this will not gonna sit well with fans.

Of course this is just based on the trailer though and the series could be better than what it offers in the trailer.

But, was Tyris always a girl boss?

Plus, the show is made by the same people who made Star Trek: Lower Decks, an animated comedy of Star Trek, a franchise that take it's sci-fi as serious drama, and Lower Decks was beloved. And just because Star Trek: Lower Decks was an animated comedy, didn't mean it couldn't be sincere and deep when it needed to be.

It's why I want to give Golden Axe a chance! It may not be the kind of entertainment I want from Golden Axe (live-action, on par with Conan's movie) but it may still be good.
