A live painting by Sonic series designer Yui Karasuno will start on September 26 at 12:00 JST alongside the start of the “Information Live! Sega / Atlus” broadcast and end during the Sonic Station Live! portion of the broadcast. Featuring presenters Kazuyuki Hoshino (Sonic series creative director) and Jun Senoue (Sonic series sound director), and Yui Karasuno (Sonic series designer).

Its funny how everyone will tell you that Sonic has sucked since it left the Dreamcast, but always ignore handheld gems like the Sonic Advance series. Most retro fans will get angry and talk about how this is nothing like the Sonic Genesis, titles and to them I’ll say that its not suppose to be. Its the Sonic Advance series. Being different isn’t bad.
The game is beautiful to look at. Textures have subtle patterns and occasional glossy finishes, enemies have glitter paint jobs with a metallic sheen. What results is a world that is easy to take in as you run through the stages, but retains a level of detail that one can enjoy at slow speeds. Items and enemies are easy to spot, and Sonic himself rarely gets lost in the world (pun intended).
The original BLACK is the most plain yet iconic of the four and the included games reflect that classic feel. Included are Sonic The Hedgehog, Puyo Puyo 2, OutRun and Royal Stone. The game selection covers a variety of genres and represent some of the handheld’s best titles. These games are also the most english-friendly, with only the RPG Royal Stone presenting a language barrier. If one was only interested in importing one Game Gear Micro, I would say black is the way to go. Solid game selection and an iconic color.
Of course, this could mean anything. It could be teasing an announcement on November 3rd, or counting down 3 days till an announcement is made. It could even be another third game entirely – perhaps a third Sonic & All Stars Racing game, or an overdue modern port of Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
