Madden NFL 97, NiGHTS Into Dreams, and Virtua Fighter 2 are the Best-Selling SEGA Saturn games in the US; Panzer Dragoon at Number 10

Quote
As you can see, Madden NFL 97 tops the charts in both lists – which, when you consider the power EA's brand had back then (and, indeed, today), isn't all that shocking. Its sequel, released as the Saturn was circling the drain in North America, manages to come 13th.
This makes EA's decision to back away from Sega with the Dreamcast a little surprising; the company clearly found some degree of commercial success on Saturn, even if the games would almost certainly have made ...

"Reject This Ugly Husk And Play The Original" - Panzer Dragoon II Zwei Remake Isn't Going Down Well With Fans

Quote
Originally announced all the way back in 2018, the game soon vanished from release schedules – so much so that we even asked what had happened to it back in January of this year. It has now been confirmed that it will be developed by MegaPixel Studios and Storm Trident, with Forever handling the publishing duties.
You'd imagine that, after such a long period of silence for a remake of a beloved Sega Saturn classic, the reaction to this announcement would be positive – but you'd be wrong. Damn wrong.
The selection of screenshots shared by Forever Entertainment doesn't seem to have filled fans with optimism for the forthcoming game, with many people ...

New Emulator Ymir Now Boasts Over 90% Compatibility With The Sega Saturn's Library

Quote
A new update has been dropped for the emulator (update v0.2.0) just yesterday, with this brand-new release reportedly bringing further improvements to its compatibility with the Sega Saturn's library of games.
According to the developers, Ymir now boasts over 90% compatibility with the Saturn's collection of games, with the majority of titles "working flawlessly or with minor issues". The Sega Saturn community has assembled a full compatibility list that is available to view here in more detail, with 4.6% of the library being described as "perfect" and 86.2% as "playable".
A further 4.7%, meanwhile, can boot in-game, while 2.8% simply do ...

SEGA Talk #178: US Box Art Design (1989-2001)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9b8-5qwZYQA

Quote
In this episode of Sega Talk, we track the radical evolution of SEGA’s North American branding, from the clinical “graph paper” grids of the Master System to the high-tech “black box” era of the Genesis. We dive deep into why Sega abandoned its uniform look for the iconic red-stripe rebrand of the 90s, the switch to the massive plastic long-boxes of the Saturn, and finally, the Dreamcast’s sleek transition from bright orange swirls to the edgy “SegaNet” black. It’s a nostalgic look at how Sega used graphic design as a weapon in the console wars, shifting from a toy company aesthetic to a lifestyle brand that defined a generation.

Panzer Dragoon Saga's PC Port Was Abandoned In 2020, But Its Developer Is "Motivated" To Work On It Again

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPI18jQXFYM

Quote
"The decomp/recomp started a long time ago, around 2015 or so," he says. "I've been trying to make progress on and off. It was started under the impression that the code was lost. Over time, it became clear that the way the game is programmed (not at all like a traditional RPG) was making the task a bit impractical. Every location, battle and interaction is more or less custom and requires manual implementation."
He explains that he "toyed with the idea of completing CD1 and seeing from there, but I lost interest before that," with the last code change being Oct 5th, 2020. The reason it's currently gaining traction online is that yaz0r decided to open-source the project.
"At some point, feeling this effort had all been gone to waste, I decided to put it up on GitHub and see interest there," he says. "It's been ..."

Will it get a Steam release?

What bothers me is there are loads of Sega PC games, particularly ones from the Sega Saturn, Dreamcast and sixth-gen consoles, that Sega could put on Steam. Sonic R and Sonic Heroes both had PC-releases. There's literally a game called "Virtua Fighter PC"! I don't see the excuse why Sega won't allow these games on Steam.

I would like to play Panzer Dragoon Saga, but if it's not gonna have a Steam release for it’s PC debut, I'll just have to emulate it.

Actually I still have my Virtua Fighter PC and its sequel.

Sadly they're not working with the newer Windows OS so may be that's why.
These games have their own specs needed to be played properly which usually didn't get carried over to next Windows OS.

Not even compatibility mode?

Hm... maybe that's why the Dreamcast Bundle was removed from Steam, because the games were... wait, no, Jet Set Radio and Sonic Adventure work fine for me.

But they could at least try for some games. Hundred Swords for PC looks more appealing to me on account of mouse control over thumbstick.

Yeah, I mean not right now, but after they finished with Zwei, I believe Saga is next.

Good for you then. I played them in Steam Deck and have broken cutscenes and faulty controller mapping issues.
NiGHTS worked perfectly though.

If you don't mind with GOG, you could help to vote for it.

Likely some fan fixes for it at some point.

I'm usually on Steam all the time. Though might have to moonlight with GOG at some point.

I'm too lazy to do manual fix (fan mod/fan patch).
If the game company doesn't provide the fix then I just move on to another games, there are still a lot of them waiting to be played.
Unless it's a game I'm dying to play but that's such a rare ocassion.
