Since they have experiences with Steam Deck, I believe Steam Frame has a huge advantage over its competitors like the Meta Quest 3 and Apple Vision Pro by focusing on being a "streaming-first" hybrid device that acts as a "Steam Deck for your face," designed specifically to bring the entire Steam library—both VR and traditional flatscreen games—into a wireless headset.
I don't know if the Steam Frame is as portable as the Steam Deck. Can't imagine myself sitting in a waiting room or at a train station with the thing on my head, oblivious to the last train home. But I do want to give a big middle-finger to Meta if I could.
I'm not VR-tech savvy, so I don't know if the Steam Frame is absolute cutting-edge over Meta Quest 3 and Apple Vision Pro. But even if Meta surpasses it in 5 years, I'll be happy if the Steam Frame is simply a great VR headset that lasts for years to come.
I would be still using my Oculus Rift S if I could, but (and I admit, I can't prove it, but some believe so) I believe Meta "bricked" my Oculus Rift S. I wouldn't mind at all still using an old VR headset as long as it worked fine with VR games. I could've brought a new VR headset, but at the time I heard of the rumours of VALVe's upcoming headset so that's why I've been absent from the VR-scene all this time. And I'm glad to have waited. Even if it's not out just yet.
Though, if I was a bit wiser at the time, I should've got a Valve Index instead of an Oculus Rift S to begin with.
