This live-action adaptation of the first installment in the "Yakuza" series, which has shipped over 30 million copies worldwide, remains nearly faithful to the original.
Produced by the cast and staff of Nihon Touitsu, the hugely popular film depicting Japan's underworld, the series is fully supervised by Ryu ga Gotoku Studio.
The story follows the events leading up to the video games "Yakuza Kiwami 3 / Yakuza 3 Gaiden: Dark Ties," scheduled for release on Thursday, February 12th, 2026.

I imagine the reason why time travel would be relevant to her would be because her debut game, Sonic CD, was more heavy on time travel than Sonic '06 was.

Gameplay-wise yes.

Well, let's just see how it goes. I don't like the idea of an alt-timeline Dr. Robotnik replacing original Robotnik. I dunno, I just find it lazy writing to me.

"The villain King Dragon is now dead, and the world is saved... But King Dragon from another dimension shows up, and thus the world is in peril once again!"

A villain that cheats death would be more acceptable to me than the fact he can be replaceable. Or else doesn't matter how Sonic 4 film ends if there is a line of Dr. Robotniks from other dimensions that can just take his place.

We've already been told before that the plot of the film will be based on the third installment in the franchise, The House of the Dead III, with Lisa Rogan in search of her father and Daniel Curien, who’s the son of the man who caused this mutant outbreak in the first place and who has to deal with the sins of the father.

They said Paramount is currently actively pursuing Carrey to return as Dr. Ivo Robotnik in Sonic 4.
If Carrey said no the story would take a different turn.

Jim Carrey could still play the role of an alternate Doctor Robotnik, I just don't want him too.
I'd rather Shadow saves Dr. Robotnik at the last second or he somehow survived by some other means. Sonic 4 could star a brand-new villain, such as Neo Metal Sonic, and Dr. Robotnik could be revealed to be alive later or something.

If Jim Carrey doesn't want to reprise the role, then let Dr. Robotnik "regenerate" or something.

I dunno. I just don't like the "Dr. Robotnik dies, replace him with a parallel version" take on it. It's been done before in the Archie Sonic comic and felt it was a bit of a cheap way for the comic to get out of the corner of killing off it's Dr. Robotnik.
It also implies that the war against Eggman is an impossible battle. If Sonic or the Freedom Fighters are successful in defeating Dr. Eggman once and for all, whose to say another Eggman will take his place?

And yeah,  Iknow Eggman Nega is "technically" a parallel universe Eggman, but I would still find him acceptable given he's more of an original character than a replacement.

Yeah, Nega Eggman is a better choice for me. Nega is a serious character, like? Unlike previous Eggman, Jim Carrey could explore playing as a serious mad scientist.
