Then they could do it with Silver instead of putting Amy Rose with Silver's backstory, though I understand why they picked Amy since they wanted to add a romcom in Sonic 4.

I imagine the reason why time travel would be relevant to her would be because her debut game, Sonic CD, was more heavy on time travel than Sonic '06 was.

Gameplay-wise yes.

Isabela Merced Cast as Lead in Paul W.S. Anderson’s The House of the Dead Film

Quote
SEGA’s The House of the Dead is once again stepping into the spotlight of Hollywood, this time with a major casting announcement that signals a very different approach from past adaptations. According to a new report from Deadline, actress Isabela Merced has been cast as the lead in Paul W.S. Anderson’s upcoming film adaptation of The House of the Dead. Isabela Merced has steadily built an impressive résumé in recent years.
She starred in several films such as the Alien: Romulus and Superman, directed by James Gunn. Her casting suggests the film is aiming for ...

Well, let's just see how it goes. I don't like the idea of an alt-timeline Dr. Robotnik replacing original Robotnik. I dunno, I just find it lazy writing to me.

"The villain King Dragon is now dead, and the world is saved... But King Dragon from another dimension shows up, and thus the world is in peril once again!"

A villain that cheats death would be more acceptable to me than the fact he can be replaceable. Or else doesn't matter how Sonic 4 film ends if there is a line of Dr. Robotniks from other dimensions that can just take his place.

She'll be for the role of Sophie, or they gonna genderbend G or Rogan.

Though likely a different story altogether given the THotD games have about as much cutscenes as 10-20 minutes or so.

That will be depended on how Paramount's negotiation with Jim Carrey goes.
They said Paramount is currently actively pursuing Carrey to return as Dr. Ivo Robotnik in Sonic 4.
If Carrey said no the story would take a different turn.

I believe she'll play as Sophie's daughter instead, Lisa Rogan.
We've already been told before that the plot of the film will be based on the third installment in the franchise, The House of the Dead III, with Lisa Rogan in search of her father and Daniel Curien, who’s the son of the man who caused this mutant outbreak in the first place and who has to deal with the sins of the father.

Jim Carrey could still play the role of an alternate Doctor Robotnik, I just don't want him too.
I'd rather Shadow saves Dr. Robotnik at the last second or he somehow survived by some other means. Sonic 4 could star a brand-new villain, such as Neo Metal Sonic, and Dr. Robotnik could be revealed to be alive later or something.

If Jim Carrey doesn't want to reprise the role, then let Dr. Robotnik "regenerate" or something.

I dunno. I just don't like the "Dr. Robotnik dies, replace him with a parallel version" take on it. It's been done before in the Archie Sonic comic and felt it was a bit of a cheap way for the comic to get out of the corner of killing off it's Dr. Robotnik.
It also implies that the war against Eggman is an impossible battle. If Sonic or the Freedom Fighters are successful in defeating Dr. Eggman once and for all, whose to say another Eggman will take his place?

A bit daring to skip straight to the third game for an adaption, but I like it.

Well, if the reason's because it's been done before in the Archie Sonic comic or in the game or in the tv series and you want it to be different than them then what's the point of live adaptation.
Weren't fans usually complain too if the live action version story is too different than the original/existing?

I wonder if G would make an appearance too.

The point of the live-adaption is to be different to the games and comics. Yes, as afilm, finale's often involved death. But if that death goes against a mandatory such as "Dr. Robotnik must be Sonic's primary villain", then why corner yourself by killing off Dr. Robotnik to begin with? have Dr. Robotnik survive the ARK explosion somehow. Not replace him with another Dr. Robotnik because it just doesn't feel the same.
I wonder if G would make an appearance too.
I'm curious about that too.

But I'm curious who they will cast for all the familiar roles. Roy Curien, Thomas Rogan, Goldman, etc.

Ivo Robotnik wasn't Sonic's primary villain in Sonic 3. Gerald Robotnik was.

I'm curious about that too.

Roy Curien's probably already dead in this movie, so that's why they uses Daniel Curien.

He still was canon and relevant to the continuity though. Which is why I wouldn't mind if, say, Neo Metal Sonic replaced Dr. Robotnik.

Well, yeah. But if there's going to be flash backs, or if later movies will be a prequel, who they will cast for him.

And posing of him?
It would be in character of him.

I don't mind if Jim Carrey takes the role of Neo Metal Sonic disguised as him, or even Eggman Nega. I just don't like the idea of dead Dr. Robotnik replaced with Parallel Universe Dr. Robotnik.

And yeah,  Iknow Eggman Nega is "technically" a parallel universe Eggman, but I would still find him acceptable given he's more of an original character than a replacement.
Desmond Harrington?

Oooh! Good choice.

Yeah, Nega Eggman is a better choice for me. Nega is a serious character, like? Unlike previous Eggman, Jim Carrey could explore playing as a serious mad scientist.
