It is easy to blame the lack of any kind of multiplayer as a major reason for weak sales I think. Especially in a third person shooter, it is just something that people expect and why the genre got so popular as of late.

About the actual game, are there any sections of the game that play much differently from the level in the demo or is every level pretty much the same thing? One of the biggest reasons Bayonetta was so good was just how diverse some of the gimmicks were. I loved the platforming when the moon was out and the giant key stuff.

You are pretty much always shooting, like Bayonetta is pretty much always fighting...

But there are changes in gameplay, there are train levels, escort levels, a protect the *transport here* levels, there is a short anti gravity level and a few other things, a boost level where you have to boost though pipes to avoid a lazer, a level where you shoot from a transport thing.

But even with that the game play changes up as you play. One of my favourite things about the game is using the gun that shoots saw blades on the big walking enemies. As you hit them their limbs get cut off and it changes up all of their animations depending what you cut off.

There are two enemies you come across later on i wont ruin them but they are just amazingly made. One of the is one of my favourite enemies I've ever faught in a game. I like just looking at and the way it is animated.

Damn it, I hate it when predictions sorta come true.

The reception it had in the UK wasn't quite what I was expecting, it will probably make better numbers than Quantum Theory, I mean Tecmo's shooter was critically panned and there was 0 marketing.

Sega had day one DLC stuff and great pre-order bonuses, so it's a little upsetting to see it underperformed.

I hope it does better in the US then it does in the UK, since that is the largest market for third person shooters, but I dunno, players value MP... a lot.

What do you mean with great pre-order bonuses? Do you mean the 3 additional weapons? Honestly, nobody cares about 3 weapons in a new franchise game. If it would be Gears of War, Halo then ok, but simply those weapons aren't that interesting.

I made the preorder, but the game still hasn't been shipped...  :x

This game is longer than 4 hours. Barely in the 2nd act and spent a couple of hours.

Yes in France and UK (only Zavvi) there is a special edition with figure, but it has nothing to do with preorder bonus. Of course it's always better to preorder such special editions due to stock limits.

As far as I know there are only 3 extra weapons for preordering the game.

I've been watching bits and pieces of gameplay footage of the full game, and it seems.... fun, admittedly. @_@ It may not be worth full price though due to its washed-out colors, its violent intro, and its (supposedly) short playthrough time.

What the Hell kind of complaints are those? I can understand the length of the game being too short, but you specifically have gone out of your way to say how you are the one and only TRUE and HONEST hardcore gamer, and that little things like 30 hour games do not appeal to you!

I am still not really interested in Vanquish for some reason too, so I will not be getting it anytime soon. I would love to hear how long the main game is though, and how many unlockables there are to be had. I loved Bayonetta and thought it was jam packed with content, but I was not replaying it as long as I thought I would be.

I am a true gamer. That's why the intentional gramer appeal art design keeps me from wanting it that much.

Oh boy, here we go again...

You always are so close-minded about games that I do not understand how you consider yourself a "True gamer" that has all of the best intentions when you always throw out comments like that.

For the record, Vanquish's art was inspired by Casshern. But yeah, somehow only for the Western John Wayne bang bang players.

My advice to you is

"true gamer" is such a vague concept.

A true gamer plays everything with an open mind and is willing to try anything for no reason other than just enjoying the medium, like Mark from the Classic Game Room. This is off topic though, so continue talking about Vanquish!

Violent intro? Are we being serious here? It isn't even that violent. Sheltered children.

Am I close-minded, or do I just have taste?

I can assure you that it's not the former. ^__^

I suppose I didn't realize that Casshern used washed out shades of grey and brown like a gramer marketed Xbox 360/PS3 game.

Damn, does it ever look exactly like Vanquish. If I remember correctly, SEGA/Platinum Games one even said themselves that they were hoping to appeal to a Western graming audience with this game. Everything about the way it was designed seems focus tested for that particular demographic, right down to the generic brown-haired 30-something rough guy protagonist who smokes five packs a day because that's what cool people do. Not to mention that he's an American fighting against Russians, playing in with that bizarre Cold War nostalgia that Americans seem to carry these days and that developers keep mining from.
