Vanquish demo coming September 2nd

It seems that the Vanquish demo has been confirmed for PSN and Xbox Live on September 2nd. Only issue? Its for the Japanese store only, that this has been confirmed.

Not a big issue seeing as the game does not seem to have that much dialogue. Get your Japanese accounts ready!

UPDATE: The Sega Europe blog has just announced that the demo will hit XBLA and PSN on 31st August for North America, across Europe on 1st September and Australia on 2nd September. Check out the SEGA Europe Blog for the full description of the demo’s contents.

Phantasy Star Portable 2 demo hits PSN

The US PSN store has just been updated and PSP SEGA fans got a treat, a Phantasy Star Portable 2 demo. Last time they got Valkyria Chronicles II, now Phantasy Star? Good times.

The game is suppose to hit retail on September 14th.

Valkyria Chronicles II demo hitting PSN today

The demo for Valkyria Chronicles II will be hitting US PSN later today, I just checked at the time of posting this and the store hasn’t updated yet. Should be in a few hours, I personally can’t wait.

RubyEclipse has confirmed on the Playstation Blog that the Western release of the game has gotten extra content.

“Among the many stickers that you can get for your tank or vehicle, we’ve added in a few brand new ones that both old and new SEGA fans are sure to smile at. Those of you who loved the first game will also be happy to note that we’ve included a few original characters as unlockable Easter eggs, just like in the Japanese version.”

The game comes out August 31st in America, make sure to pre-order your copy and play the demo… in whatever order you choose.

Yakuza 4 demo hits Japanese PSN

If you have a Japanese PSN account and can’t wait to try out the next Yakuza installment, now is your chance to try out the demo. The demo is available for free on the Japanese PSN. Enjoy!

I can’t tell you much about the demo other than its 1.8gb in size, so make some room. I’m actually downloading it as I type this.

Yakuza 3 demo is missing content

“No time for love, Dr. Jones”

I played the Yakuza 3 Japanese demo for quite awhile and noticed some stuff that was missing from the US demo. First of all the arcade section was missing AnswerXAnswer arcade mini-game.

Then I also noticed that they took off hostess bar section. You can’t try it out in the demo, leading me to believe it is not going to be in the full game since the US trophy list that was just released is missing the 2 hostess trophies. This also confirms a rumor that came out a few months ago saying that the western release wouldn’t have the hostess sections in it.

Why did SEGA edit out hostess content from this game and not the others? No idea.

Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing demo out for DS

If you have access to the Nintendo Channel, you will have the ability to download the demo for Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing. I think this is only for DSi’s, right? Either way, you can see what it looks like via the YouTube video above.

Nagoshi teases Yakuza 4 demo, says its coming soon

[Watching Kazuma sing is still a bit odd]

Seems that SEGA of Japan is having a retail tour, showing off a demo of Yakuza 4, but what good does that do us? None! But Toshihiro Nagoshi has talked about a PSN demo via his blog, saying it will be coming.

When? Well Nagoshi can’t say right now,  but if it follows Yakuza 3‘s schedule we shall see the demo a week before the retail game is released. Nagoshi has also said that commercials and retail promotional videos for Yakuza 4 are already done.

Aliens vs Predator demo gets 14k downloads on Xbox Live

The multiplayer demo of Aliens vs Predator has been downloaded over 14,000 times over the weekend on Xbox Live. It is not all sunny news, since the PC version has recently patched a matchmaking bug, the Playstation 3 version is set to get a demo patch as well, according to Rebellion. They also say they are “really sorry”. Kind of hard to drop 60 bucks on a game when the demo is broken.

“Just looking at how the demo’s been rated on Xbox Live tells its own story – 14,000 downloads in a few days and an approval rating of 4.5/5, we’re absolutely delighted with the response….The one unforeseen issue was the matchmaking on PS3, that really came out of left field and we’ve still got Sony engineers helping us look into what is at fault. I understand why people question how it wasn’t spotted sooner but we just can’t replicate that kind of scale in normal testing.”

Very interesting. I expect Aliens vs Predator to do very well on the Xbox 360 and PC; should do alright on Playstation 3. Early reviews have been harsh and I hope bigger sites like IGN and 1up give out more informative and unbiased reviews. We shall post our review up when it launches.
