SEGA to expand arcade business to China

China has like, a lot of people and SEGA thinks all those kung-fu loving communist would like to play some arcade games. So what are they going to do about it? Expand their arcade business to China, make exclusive arcade games tailored for the average Chinese consumer.

Should be interesting to see what arcade cabinets SEGA will launch with in China and what kind of titles they will develop for the country. Maybe some exciting stuff?

Platinum Games & SEGA negotiating future titles

We have always known that SEGA and Platinum Games deal would come to an end after Vanquish. Seems that the developer knows they now have the ability to strike a better deal with SEGA and they are negotiating.

“For the future of our partnership, of course, it’s not something that we alone can decide. Sega has its stance, and we have ours, but if Sega asks us to make something we might take the offer.”

Joystiq has said that Platinum Games wants to ‘create their own ip’, but I think they read the quote wrong.

“So as a studio we would like to do both [new IP and sequels], but the whole point of Platinum Games is to create our own IP, that’s what we do.”

I think what Inaba mean’t is that Platinum Games makes their own new IPs, as in their ideas, not SEGA’s and they will continue to do so. Doesn’t sound like he talks about ownership of the IPs. We already know since TGS that SEGA has more plans with Platinum Games and that Platinum Games is working on a massive online title.

Future looks bright and I can’t want to see what Platinum Games comes up with next.

SEGA also expects 360 to be their biggest platform in software sales, with 2.66 million units. For PS3, SEGA expects 2.52 million units and Wii SEGA expects 1.55 million units.

SEGAbits .5 and the future

Hello SEGAbytes, is that what we should call you guys? Maybe? Most likely not because it sounds like a cheesy television show from the 90’s. Regardless we have launched a SEGAbits .5, just minor changes behind the scene and the new featured bar (up above). Like always we are open to suggestions.

As for the future, we have some projects we are kicking around that we are not going to reveal just yet. We do however plan to start up weekly features and original content. I will like to thank our incredible community for the support and all you readers for making our launch successful. Yes, today this site turns 2 months old, seems longer doesn’t it?
