Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing

I'm so addicted to the Missions, I must complete them all!

Only 25 left!

Then I was back in  Lost Odyssey...

Done a couple of hidden caves, got my characters up to level 45 now.
Maybe I'll smack a couple of optional bosses around.

I'm gonna try going up against Blue Dragon.

Been playing WET, and it's surprisingly good. I mean, it's a bit cheapy feeling, but it kinda works in it's favour almost, what with the grindhouse/drive-in style it's going for. Still the graphics are just bad any way you slice it, and while the gameplay is pretty mindless, it's a lot of fun. There are even a number of Prince of Persia/Assassin's Creed style platforming bits that work really well.

Also downloaded and been playing the King Arthur demo for PC. Seems like a really fantastic game, it's basically Total War but with a fantasy setting. It has some really great music and presentation, and it seems like it has a novel's worth of story and information as well. The Seasons are a lot more important too, with armies not able to move in Winter and crops and taxes coming in at different times according to the seasons.

I completed the story mode in Napoleon. The first episode was just a tutorial, so I have nothing to complain about that. It was mostly for setting up the story. The other two - Italy and Egypt - were fun at first, but I felt they dragged on after awhile. The Italian campaign forces you to rush, so it is mostly just constant battles. The Egyptian one gives you more time and is mostly mission based, but I felt it was more boring. You mostly fight camel douchebags once you defeat Egypt, with the Ottomans secondary and the British barely doing anything. The last episode is the longest, but I felt it was far too easy. I had a bit of a hard time at first, but once I got organised I quickly won. I never even got the chance to user about half the units or any of the elite ones, although you can keep playing, so I will do it later (plus there are achievements to get). For the last episode, it is just the second battle of Waterloo, except you win (obviously). I felt it was mostly confusing, but it was nice to have something that was harder compared to the campaign. It is more of a 'panic' than anything, as it is unrealistic to be able to control everything, with it getting worse once you have to fight two armies at once.

Something really penisy is that they removed the ability to take ports and unload men to avoid the non-movement penalty. Now using a dock is the same as unloading on the coast. It is a really weird change. Overall the rest of the game is vastly improved, however. I had some minor sound issues and rare bugs, but that was it.

One of the most interesting things I thought of it were the portraits. All the generals, agents, et cetera have really nice drawings for their faces now instead of generic 3D models, and a lot of them even show up as unique models in a battle. They are drawn unrealistic sometimes, like with spies, and it looks interesting since they try to make them creepy looking with long noses, droopy faces, and other stuff like that. Some of the politicians and Napoleon during the last battle look fat and ugly, with large dark circles under the eyes, and balding, which all looks very good and reminds me of Metal Slug portraits. I would say the Napoleon one was the best, as it portrayed him young for most of the game, then extremely bad looking and old for the last battle (think of Chris-chan Weston Chandler in 10 years, whom I think looks a lot like Napoleon).

Also I played Blur but that was fucking gay.

Just finished chapter 13 in Bayonetta. Loving this game.
It kind of reminds me of an action version of Space Channel 5, in that it's pure fun jammed onto a game disc.

Resident Evil 5 ;)

Funnily enough I just came to post that I started playing Resident Evil: Code Veronica again on a whim.

I just got into the Ashford mansion, I'd forgotten how creepy this game was. I remember I loved this game a whole lot when it came out, but for various reasons I think I only ever played through completely once or maybe twice. I figured now is as good a time as any to go back to it finally.

The graphics have really help up very well, it still looks great. I'd also fogotten how tough it can be, even just after an hour of playing I found myself struggling with inventory and limited ammo supplies (although it's probably not as hard as I found the original RE on Saturn, I got up to the Giant Spider boss only. I really should play that again soon too...).

Classic RE at it's finest.

Well, after I finished all the S&SASR missions, I decided to give the game a rest and once again focused on Lost Odyssey. Why? Because I want to finish it, pronto.

I went to Gongora's Mansion and found a Magic Seal, unlocked it and I went down into some catacombs.

Those monsters had petriying powers so it made my life hell, luckily I bought some Medusa Heads acessories that allow Anti-Petrify, made levelling up quite easy.

The boss in this stage was a total push-over, it was one of the common enemies found on the Experimental Staff, albeit slightly stronger.

My characters are now around level 48, guess I'm gonna do a couple of more optional dungeons from here on end.

By the way, for those who have played the game: How do you find the missing Pirates? I was told there was one in Gothza but I couldn't find him.

RE1 is really hard. Well I guess the old games all are pretty tough,  but RE1 in particular I struggled with (although I did use a guide for my first play of RE2 and CV). I think that the controls on the first game in particular make it difficult, at least CV had some kind of auto aim.

I would love to try the REmake sometime though.

I don't even remember that bit, but I'm sure there's something on gamefaqs or something if you are still stuck. I remember those paralasis enemies, collossal pain in the butt.

I bought everything in  the SASAR Shop, and now I'm hoping that the upcoming DLC must be purchased within the in-game shop. Yeah, yeah. People will bitch and moan about buying the DLC and then having to "buy" it again, but theres something satisfying about the "ka-ching" sound.

Maybe if you buy it, it'll be in the shop but free. Like in Brutal Legend, you still went to buy the DLC, but it was all free in the shop. It was good because you got to meet Ozzy Osbourne again.

Considering Sega Miles still rack up after the shop is "sold out", I'll bet by the time DLC arrives players will have a load of Miles. Still better to make the $0 for the sake of fans not getting pissed.

I've been playing a lot of Genesis games recently, on my old model 1. Specifically Sonic 2, Ghostbusters and Disney Interactive games. I have audio blasting in stereo, so I love revisiting games from the past and experiencing the audio on a whole new level (the next level).

I just remembered the VMU on the Dreamcast controller shows your heart-beat and status in RE:CV.

Brilliant.

...Thinking back, I can't remember why I didn't like it, I think it was because it was so slow 0_0 ... especially that Saturn version!
