Another two hours playing Magnacarta 2.

Some good revelations and twists(though they could be seen coming a mile away), the combat system is OK and easy to handle.

However in some tight spots the AI controlled partners are terrible, they sorta get stuck sometimes behind other characters or when I engage them they don't actually and I want to start a chain link they are still a few miles away and can't help but to just spam chain breaks.

Sometimes the AI healer is a little wonky, sometimes it will heal, sometimes it won't. Celestine is a real life saver, methinks.

During combat I did encounter a weird glitch. A monster was knocked down and it just sorta teleported itself to another side of the scenery where I can't reach him.

Oh, well... Like I said, I'm doing good progress with 20 hours already put into it, I reached that "You can now go wherever you want and complete all the tasks left" stage of the game.

Playing more God of War III.
I'm about 5 hours in, and just at the beginning of the 6th of 9 chapters in the game.

Sonic Jam showed up today.
I cannot get over how much extra stuff is in this game. It's insane.  I figured I'd just be getting the Genesis games emulated with a little hub world.
Why can't SEGA release a few more collections like this?

Finished Alan Wake's 3rd and 4th chapter. Very nice.

The most exciting three hours I've had in a long time.

Playing Alpha Protocol, really liking it so far. The sneaking and shooting isn't as good as Splinter Cell etc, but it makes up for it with the choices and RPG elements. Not to mention it's likely not as good because my character is still a noob and hasn't leveled up enough.

The dialogue is good and I like the main character a lot. "I sure hope you like water boarding..."

Resonance of Fate:  Why does this game want to make me angry?  I'm supposed to be having fun.  Do you have to grind to get through it, or is it just hard all the time?  The battle system is pretty convoluted too.

Man, fuck Breakdown on the Xbox. What an unfinished piece of shit that was. Horrible design ideas and a weird fucking story all mixed into one title that is barely playable, or fun. I gave up on it and just watched the ending on YouTube. It leaves room for a sequel, but considering that it had an incredibly high budget and sold less than 10,000 copies worldwide...

As for some other games!

Soul Calibur IV:

I have liked the series enough so far to warrant buying another release, but everything about this game just turned me off. Everything from the over-sexualization of everything, the major loss of tons of basic modes, Star Wars not working with the IP at all, adding guest fan characters in... The list goes on forever.

The first thing I really got into was the Story mode. Which is like five fights long so is a pointless addition even if you care about the characters stories. From that I moved onto the character creation, which I must admit I spent dozens of hours fooling around with in Soul Calibur III. This too has been worsened as you now cannot purchase most of the items and instead have to win them in 'The Tower of Lost Souls', usually by sheer luck as you are never told how to win any of the items. Incredibly horrible idea.

The Tower of Lost Souls is like the mission mode in this release, but it is by far the worst in the series yet. It is basically just survival mode with with no special goals other than usually just having to fight tons of guys in a row. It is not fun and is tedious.

There are a bunch of other really, really bad ideas that could keep me here for hours, but with all of that said, the first time I played the game I did not turn it off for about seven hours (seriously). The music is stunning as always, the graphics are some of the best I have seen on anything even two years after release and well, I just think it is quite good simple-minded fun. It is the worst in the main series, though.

My only complaint of the Star Wars stuff outside it not fitting and the pay-for DLC of Darth Vader making me RAGE is that I do not know why they chose Yoda (who is not fun to play as) instead of Luke Skywalker or even Obi-Wan for the Xbox 360 release.

Dark Cloud 2 (Dark Chronicle outside of America):

Now here is a game on PlayStation 2 I have been wanting to play for about eight years now. It started out really slow, but man, what a gem of a dungeon explorer this is!

The main idea of the first game was to go into dungeons and find orbs that held pieces of a town that you could then paste wherever you want on the outside. It was a neat gimmick for the time, but is not really worth playing anymore. In this, everything is expanded upon in the best ways possible. You can customize little details to the buildings how you want, and it is not even the main draw anymore. You can build all of your own items and vehicles however you want, and changing up your towns effects what happens in the future, so you can go back and forth between the two and see how what you did effects everything.

Even more impressive is how enjoyable the battle system is considering how simplistic it is (largely based on one button, kind of like Comix Zone). A lot of skill mixed in with brains and time spent to work on your tools and stuff. Your close range weapons will break, your guns need ammo etc etc, so you need to keep them in good condition, especially considering that the game is very challenging, though so far I think it has been very fair, in when I have been known to shout obscenities when a random bird in the forest can kill me in three hits (which is my fault, because I could see it coming and I could have blocked it with no issue if my mind was clearer).

It is not for everyone, but if you would love a very very enjoyable and long RPG with an expansive set of things to do and without an annoying story or whiny characters, then you could not go wrong with this!

^It's a shame to hear that SCIV has a poor mission mode. I think the mission mode in Soul Caliber on Dreamcast is the best single player mode a fighter has ever had, it really was just absolutely brilliant. The missions were very varied (remember the fights in strong winds, quicksand, poison weapons etc etc. It was really great) and there was just so much content in there it was insane. They even had a competent story tying it all together, it's a shame I don't think we'll see it replicated again.

Anyway, as for me I'm getting towards the end of God Hand.

This game is just so much fun, and I honestly think it's probably got one of the best difficulties I've ever played. It's just got that perfect mix of being hard but being so much fun that you're determined to try again and again until you get it. And it is getting very hard now, I'm up to level 8 which seems to be close to the end and theres a lot of really intense moments.
I never thought i would be enjoying it this much, I'm pleasantly surprised.

In addition I've been playing Alpha Protocol which I'm really loving so far. I've been playing it with a Splinter Cell mind-set making a stealth based character that seems to be working well for me. I've just escaped Saudi Arabia and I'm in Rome. The missions have been surprsingly varied too with some just being conversation based, where you need to bluff you're way out of things or try to extract as much information as possible.

Actually, I thought the one in Soul Calibur III was outstanding. A lot of people would probably not agree, but I thought it was better than the mission mode from the first Soul Calibur.

Basically, think of an RTS game with drawn out paths, with castles and forts and stuff in the way that you can expand with your money won or stolen. What you would do is create some characters of your own (and be joined with some) and send them off through paths to take down the enemies and fortresses and claim them as your own. My favorite parts are that the characters would level up and that you can either watch fights from a birds eye view that are won by experience points and HP, or choose the characters fighting and actually play as them instead. There is a lot to it, but I think you get the idea.

But yeah, shame about Soul Calibur IV, but I like it way more than I expected I would and got it for like $4 new. So I should not be complaining as much. Not to mention it has some of the best achievements I have ever seen! http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game ... ievements/

Okay, I am done talking now! I promise!

You should totally write up a review for the main page! Would love to read what somebody who enjoyed it would have to say.

Played Game Room quite a bit last night. Played a solid 14 minutes of Buzz Bombers and got two of the three gold medals as a result, though I now have "Flight of the Bumblebees" stuck in my head. Probably the only Intellivision game I'll ever buy.

Gonna get back into RDR this weekend before I leave for vacation. Going to the family cabin where internet doesn't exist and the only video game is Golden Tee at the local golf course bar.

It is that hard. If you thought Lost Odyssey was taxing, then Resonance of Fate is really testing you.

I decided to put it aside and finish Magna Carta 2 instead. While it's hardly a decent game it is at least more accessible than this.

I think George is going to be review-ready before I do, seeing as I'm relatively early into it, but I might do something!

I beat God of War III this morning. I'd say that I liked it about the same, if not a little more than the second one.  The presentation was pretty fantastic throughout.

I also picked up Tekken 6, and Wet for PS3, as they were both on for really cheap.  I just played a bit of Tekken 6 so far.  The story mode is a little boring so far. Long cutscene - loading screen - fight 3 guys - loading screen - cutscene - loading screen - more cutscenes, etc.....
I'm thinking that I'll just stick with arcade mode on that one.

I've not played much this week because a close friend passed away.
Just some modnation racers to help get my mind off things at the end if the week.
