Experience Review: CAMP Meet & Greet with Sonic the Hedgehog

With Sonic X Shadow Generations just days away, SEGA has gone all out in the lead up to the game with cafes, concerts and touring motorcycles. One such event that should not be missed is the Sonic the Hedgehog meet and greet at Camp stores across the United States!

Taking place in Atlanta, Dallas and Chicago, this limited time event allows young fans and families to meet Sonic himself for a digital and printed photo, take part in a Sonic music dance party, put on some Sonic and friends temporary tattoos, color Sonic coloring sheets and decorate your own frame to hold your photo with Sonic. Thanks to our friends at SEGA, we were able to attend the local Camp store and experience the meet and greet for ourselves!

Upon arriving at the Camp store, we were greeted by a selection of Sonic merch! They had plush dolls, action figures, roleplay accessories and coloring books. As a Sonic toy collector myself, I was surprised to see so many items available – some of which I’ve had trouble finding at my local stores. So if you are on the lookout for certain Sonic items, Camp has you covered for the duration of this event.

Upon entering the event space, we signed in and each young member of our group got to pick out and apply a temporary tattoo of Sonic or one of his friends (or enemy in the case of Dr. Eggman).

The coloring table was a hot spot for the younger fans, with a nice selection of coloring pages. Camp did a great job keeping the space clean for each new group. As a father of two, I can attest to the struggle of cleaning up crayons and markers, so kudos to the Camp staff for not only keeping the coloring space fresh and clean, but even sorting the crayons by color!

The space was decorated with previous visitor’s coloring pages, with some fun and inventive takes on the characters. I appreciated the accurate Super Shadow.

The highlight was of course the meet and greet, and about ten minutes after we arrived Sonic made his grand entrance and high fived and fist bumped kids, danced and posed for pictures. I wanted to avoid taking photos of other people’s kids, so I don’t have many photos of Sonic but me and my oldest daughter managed to pose with him. We received two different poses printed on site and delivered to my phone via QR code. The machine they used for the photo was very nice and fast… just as Sonic!

At a second table there were blank photo frames with markers, stickers and gems which allowed fans of all ages to decorate the frame that would hold their photo with Sonic. I opted for a Green Hill look.

Before departing, Sonic played “up high, down low, too slow” with staff members and the result of Sonic being too slow broke him. Thankfully he rebounded by dancing the Macarena. Sonic made his speedy departure and gave out more high fives and fist bumps. The full experience took about 45 minutes and both of the younger guests in our party had a great time! We stuck around the Camp store and shopped for a bit and checked out their DIY slime table, which was also a hit with the kids.

If you have younger Sonic fans in your family, or are a Sonic fan yourself and want to introduce a younger member of your family to the blue blur, I highly recommend visiting a Camp store for the Sonic meet and greet. Visit the Camp website and book your experience now! It’s the perfect way to kick off Sonic X Shadow Generations release week.

Thank you again to SEGA for making this happen!
