Console-only features include a robust and detailed Training Mode, eight player Online Room Match Mode, and a match record feature to replay, save, and upload fights. Developed by AM2, the console version of Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown will bring the storied franchise’s detailed balance, overhauled fighting mechanics, and extreme depth to new audiences and VF veterans alike in the acclaimed series’ best version yet.
How about that DLC, eh? Nineteen customization packs at $4.99 each will end up being $95! I guess SEGA assumes we’ll only buy packs for our preferred fighters. Less than a month from release! Are you Virtua fans excited?

For those not fussed about the costume packs (me included) the main game is a bargain! Sega have been really quite smart with a lot of their pricing for downloadable games as of late (such as Binary Domain for £20). Day one purchase.
That is a bargain! Especially since we don’t need the DLC and it’s still better than what Capcom does. I played the hell out of the original release though, so I may pick it up down the line.
Game = $15: Sold!
Individual Character Packs = $5 each: Interesting…
2 Bundled Costume Packs = $15 each: Very nice.
So if you get the game and both bundles, it’s still only ~$45 for all the content. Great deal if you don’t own the original, and even if you do then it’s only $15 to invest in updated gameplay without dipping into the costumes.
I think I’ll miss the experience of playing the game to unlock more costumes, but it’s nice to have the option of just playing the game for cheap and later making it more personalized if I decide to buy into more costumes. I always thought the Dead or Alive series was the “prettiest fashion show fighter,” so I’m interested to see just how wacky these additional costumes will get. I know I’ll play online and see an opponent with a ridiculous outfit, where I will laugh and state, “clearly I must have that…”
You can wear a Dreamcast on your back? I’m in.
