Heroki gets re-revealed with new trailer

It’s been a long time since we’ve last had a good look at Heroki by the Dutch folks at Picomy. While the studio behind the game has been giving updates on their blog and Twitter throughout the year, we last saw the game in action at PAX 2013. As for why it’s taking so long for the game to be released, one of the game’s developers explains it in a Youtube comment.

It’s because they’re a small team who have been making it in their spare time for the past four and a half years. They’ve also built the game with their own engine, so more work had to be done than if the game would be made in an engine like Unity.

While there’s no release date yet, you can expect the game to be released onto iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch soon. SEGA will still be publishing the game. Also, Picomy recently launched a new website which you can take a look at here.

This is the kind of game I would love to play with traditional controls in my Vita. I really like the aesthetics (has some Katamary/KH vibe to it), I dig this style of laid back platforming with collectathon nature and it looks like it has multi branch level design, kind of reminiscent of the Sonic series.

But then… ¡touch controls! ¡iOS only! I know it’s more geared towards a more casual market but, come on, give some love to more traditional gamers.

Maybe play it before saying that the controls are bad? The game is designed for a smartphone, so it should be designed around it having touch controls.

…I never said the controls are bad, I just prefer playing platformers with more traditional controls in a proper gaming system, not in a phone ^^U

      Ah, okay. That’s understandable.

It looks really good but it needs to be on a current gen console. I hate this mobile trend.
