How the heck do you pronounce the last boss’ name I know his name is Wi Wi Jumbo but you know its just weird, and how I know the name is because I have the Sega Master System games manual.
One more question the manual art for the master systems Space Harrier game 2 of the enemies well one looks like a Robotech jet down to the detail and the second one is the Dom of Gundum fame. I’ve compared the Dom from Gundum to Space Harriers and they look alike when you check the Dynasty Warriors Gundum series do a close up of the Dom.
Since it’s a Japanese game the Wi is pronounced the same as Wii in Nintendo Wii.
And yup, the flying mecha are based on Gundam’s Dom, only the head is changed.
That’s why for PS2 remake they changed the flying mecha entirely to make sure he’s less alike Dom anymore (on the right at the pic) : http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/spaceharrier/sh-ps2-titlea.jpg
Strangely enough their design has not changed on the 3DS remake, only their name has been changed to Varel, .
Awesome thank you for letting me know, I guess its the same with the Robotech jet that flies by attacking the character
Oh and the dog beast thats with Wi Wi Jumbo its mame is Komainn.
Sorry name *
Apologies to Barry – I typoed Gauntlet LEGENDS as “Legacy”… had the word Legacy on the brain I guess.
Gauntlet: Dark Legacy was a DC game just in case people were curious. I didn’t work on that version though.
I freakin love this game. Have done for 31 years. It’s a classic and for me, it’s the only game that knocked Atari Star Wars off top spot. Built up a collection of ports of Space Harrier and finally got hold of a cabinet… Think I’ll go pop on the Saturn and have a game!
There was an arcade of Space Harrier that came out in the early turn of the sentry that I think was 2 players and one of the characters was a woman dressed in a nurses outfit using a giant suringe as a weapon.
