SEGA has released a new trailer for Shenmue I & II, as well as new screenshots and revealed an exclusive poster and release date. The game releases soon, August 21, 2018, and both European and American versions come with a two sided poster and a reversible cover. As revealed yesterday, save data will carry over from I to II, however save data from II will not carry over to the upcoming III. I do hold out hope that III will at least have some way to check for a save file from the remasters and give some sort of bonus for players.
Pre-Order Shenmue I & II:
PlayStation 4 | Xbox One | PC
SEGA has also released a FAQ page that answers some burning questions fans had about the games. Shenmue II will be based off of the Xbox version of the game, featuring snapshots, filters and texture mip-maps to improve anti-aliasing. Xbox graphical differences from the Dreamcast version will be present. Shenmue Dojo has a handy comparison guide.
New features include Japanese and English speech in both games, the aforementioned saves carrying over from I to II, save anywhere in both games, HD resolution rendering, updated UI, new post processing effects, full controller and mouse and keyboard support, and achievements on all platforms. Also, you will be able to control Ryo with the analog stick. Gameplay will be 16:9, however cutscenes will be 4:3 for Shenmue and 4:3 letterbox for Shenmue II. All arcade games will be playable on the new releases, so breathe easy OutRun fans!

Framedrops noticed. This is not a remaster or remake but a horrible port
But they never said it was a remaster or remake. That’s why it’s not even called “Shenmue I & II HD”, it’s an upscaled and somewhat updated port.
“a horrible port”… LOL. I idly wondered what would become of the trolls who have attempted to antagonize the Shenmue community for years now that we’re getting everything we hoped for and more. Well, if this is all you have left, please proceed, hater.
Yah, really. I bet he’ll still buy, play and enjoy it.
I am SO excited that this is coming out. Shenmue is my favorite game of all time so playing it on modern consoles with trophies is a dream come true! Haters be damned!
Since this is coming out soon, I wonder why Sega didn’t show this at E3 along side all the other upcoming games.
They did at the PC Gaming show, but it could’ve used a shot or two in the Playstation and Xbox game montages.
It would of been nice if they would of given it a little extra exposure.
